Feminism is a diverse collection of social theories, political movements, and moral philosophies, largely motivated by or concerning the experiences of women, especially in terms of their social, political, and economic situation. As a social movement, feminism largely focuses on limiting or eradicating gender inequality and promoting women's rights, interests, and issues in society.

About browncoat

I'm an uber-fan of Joss Whedon, whose works have
helped propel feminist ideas into mainstream culture through entertainment.  His Firefly TV series (and subsequent Firefly movie, Serenity) is my favorite Joss addiction (I have a weekly podcast about it).  If you're
not familiar with Firefly, it's a post-apocalyptic sci-fi show with a
western flair (sort of a sci-fi western mashup), which is somewhat dark
at times and extremely funny.  In the western style, the principal
characters are rather flawed and live on the fringe.   The
series was cancelled after 14 episodes, but the record-breaking DVD
sales earned the franchise a feature film, Serenity, which was released in 2005, to critical acclaim.
