Fender Electric Guitars make great investment instruments

Did you know that a 1954 Fender Stratocaster can sell at auction for more than $75000? Any Stratocaster guitar made prior to 1965, when a change in management impacted on the quality of the guitars, would be a highly sought after investment, and offer great returns if you sold it later on.

But who would sell such a beauty?

Fender and Yngwie Malmsteen

Yngwie Malmsteen was born in Sweden and moved to the USA in 1982. His neo-classical metal style has been influenced from such a wide range of sources as Jimi Hendrix, Brian May, Richie Blackmore, and 19th Century classical violinist Niccolo Paganini.

In 1987 Malmsteen was involved in a serious car accident which left him in a coma for several days and damaged nerves in his right hand. However, Malmsteen came back in 1988 with a collaboration with Fender to produce a Stratocaster guitar under his name.

In addition to Yngwie Malmsteen's trademark scalloped fretboard and brass nut, his signature Stratocaster guitar features a unique pickup combination of two DiMarzio YJM Pickups at the neck and middle, and one DiMarzio HS-3 Stack at the bridge, plus a large headstock, and original synchronized tremolo.

Fender and Mark Knopfler

Mark Knopfler was born in Glasgow, Scotland, but grew up in England. He started as a journalist and lecturer and it was more than ten years of jamming part time in clubs and bars before Knopfler and Dire Straits had a chart hit with "Sultans of Swing".

Knopfler discovered his trademark finger-picking technique when he tried to play a badly warped acoustic guitar that wouldn't respond to a plectrum.

Mark Knopfler has switched through a number of guitar brands over his career, including Fender, Schecter, Pensa, and Gibson. However, the Fender Stratocaster remains a favourite since he coveted a pink one he saw in a store as a teenager.

The Mark Knopfler Stratocaster guitar features an Ash body and vintage tinted Maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard. Knopfler's unmistakable tone comes from 3 Texas Special single-coil pickups and a 5-way switch.
