Fender Mustang - The Final Leo Fender Bass Guitar
The Fender Mustang bass was the final bass guitar made by original Fender designer and founder Leo Fender. He left the company in 1965. This bass guitar was first sold to the public in 1966.
Some of the popular names in music that have been known to play a Mustang Bass include Bill Wyman of The Rolling Stones, who played the Mustang in the late 1960's and early 1970's, and Dee Dee Ramone of The Ramones.
These bass guitars are still quite popular today. In 2002, the Mustang was reissued by Fender Japan, so new models are being made. That said, only the true vintage 1960's models are bringing in the big $$$ -- sometimes in the thousands of dollars.
