Feng Shui Beginners Tips - What Is Feng Shui?
What is Feng shui? Feng Shui, pronounced "fung shway", is the ancient Chinese practice of manipulating objects and space in the home or office. Feng shui literally means "wind and water". Feng shui is a type of home decorating unlike any other. Feng shui focuses more on the placement of objects and furniture. There are other feng shui design principles, such as feng shui colors, elements, et cetera. But proper arrangement is the most important in feng shui design.
Proper feng shui design promotes the presence of Chi. Chi is positive energy. If chi is directed correctly in our living spaces, our lives will become enriched in many ways. Positive chi energy promotes health, harmony, wealth, and good luck. Proper feng shui will also enhance romance, family relationships, career success, and wisdom. Practice the following feng shui beginners tips in your home or office, (preferably both), and watch as your life improves in all areas.
Feng Shui Beginners Tips - Basic Feng Shui Elements
One of the Basic Feng Shui Design Principles
The water element in feng shui represents wealth and success in your career. Adding water features such as fountains, fish bowls, or feng shui aquariums will bring the water element into a room. Also images of fish or calm water will work. Do not include art with images of violent water, such as waves crashing upon the shore or a storm.
The wood feng shui element aids in creativity and personal development. Adding items which represent the wood element will help you to grow spiritually. Live flowers or plants are best for adding wood elements to your feng shui design. Wooden objects will also work, but not be as effective.
The feng shui element earth is a grounding and stabilizing force. The earth element can add calm and sense of purpose to a space. Add the earth element to your home or office feng shui design with clay pottery or ceramics. A rock garden would also be a nice addition.
The metal element in feng shui design attracts energy. Adding metal elements will energize, focus and motivate occupants in the living space. Avoid adding too much metal elements, as it can cause the opposite effect- chaos will ensue. The feng shui metal element is easily added with metal accents, such as candlesticks. Windchimes are traditionally used in Chinese feng shui to add the metal element to an area.
Fire is the strongest of all the feng shui elements. Fire represents passion. Like the metal feng shui element, a little fire goes a long way. Too much will cause emotional upsets and impulsiveness. Add the fire element to your life with little accents. Red represents the fire element. Add touches of red. You can also use candles in a room or light the fireplace.
These are all great feng shui beginners tips for learning how to add the basic elements to your feng shui design.
