5 Ways to Feng Shui Your Bedroom

Nearly half of your life is spent in your bedroom. From sleeping to dressing, to primping to watching TV or reading a book before lights out, people spend between 10 and 12 hours a day in the bedroom. The bedroom is by far the most important room in the house. Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice of creating powerful Chi centers in your home to channel positive energy. Feng Shui masters claim that making small changes in a room can improve your health, success, wealth, love life and more. Donald Trump and many other successful celebrities and business people take this seriously. Trump even builds his towers based on Feng Shui principles. The bottom line is that any attention you give to your bedroom is a reward you will reap for years. Even a slight improvement may be able to create a positive outlook on many aspects of your life.

101 Feng Shui Tips For Your Home

1. One of the most important principles of any room should be to remove clutter. If you have paper, books, unnecessary bedroom furniture, knick Knacks or more that can be removed, do it. If you don't need it, sell it on ebay or give it away. Your room should have a handful of carefully selected pieces of furniture and decoration. That is it. The rest will detract from your power centers, and can increase stress and make you lose focus in your life.

2. Your bed is the most critical component of the room. Since you spend 8 hours sleeping in it, the type of bed, mattress, sheets and position are all critically important. You want to make sure your bed is not directly facing the door. It should have a strong wooden headboard and be placed against a solid wall. Keep lamps, laptops and all other electrical objects away from the bed itself. In fact, the clock radio is something to try to remove completely from the room if possible. Perhaps, put it in another room where it could be heard but never seen. Choose complimentary colors and opt for two sets of pillows that you would actually use. Unless you have a chest to hide decorative pillows every night, eliminate those. Your blankets and quilts should be warm enough, but not excessively hot. If you must spend money on anything, spend it on your bed, sheets and pillows. Don't settle for low quality or inexpensive pieces.

3. Eliminate mirrors from your room. It is actually not ideal to have a TV or computer in the room either. Electrical objects can pull power away from your power centers of the room. Mirrors can reflect power into unnatural places and can affect your sleep. If you do have a TV or PC in the room, consider a wooden armoire and make sure to close it before you drift off to sleep.

4. Feng Shui depends heavily on direction. If you can use a compass and find out what your true south-West corner of the room is you can help maximize your Chi. If you want to stimulate romance and passion, add natural crystals, preferably rose quartz and yellow citrine to this SW corner of the room. Put a happy photo there of your family. A good-luck dragon, placed here can increase the opportunity of success, wealth and love.

5. Change the room to soft lighting. Perhaps change to weaker bulbs or add a dimmer to your lighting options in the room. You may even consider a running water fountain to add to the positive effects you have created in the room.

This is a great review I totally agree with from the VHS version page:
Very helpful and informative! I really enjoyed watching this, May 22, 2003

This video presents feng shui in a clear and interesting way. Jenny Liu's approach is comprehensive and practical. She is an excellent speaker. I was able to use some of her tips, like the furniture placement and various cures to improve the feng shui in my house. I felt the difference right away. I also enjoyed the cultural perspective. It means more to me when I know that Jenny Liu is Chinese and learned feng shui passed down from her ancestors and from original Chinese texts. I think there's a lot of misinterpretation and oversimplification by non-Chinese practictioners on the subject. There's a handy booklet included with this video on bedroom feng shui as well as a chart to look up your own direction pattern based on your birthdate. The pace of this video is upbeat, which is good because I found other videos to be quite dry.

This was better then Feng Shui for dummies DVD which I also rented. Jenny Liu you can tell easily is more intuitive & gave much more info about how Feng shui works & how it can influence people then other videos I've seen or books. You also feel a more excitement about wanting to learn more & putting it to use with the way the program was edited/styled.

I even checked out her site liu-fengshui com & even found great artwork that you can can't take your eyes off, but locically might not be your taste. Friends have said the same thing.

Feng Shui - 15 Tips

Here's a quick list of 15 things you can easily do today to bring in positive change in your life.

1. Open all doors and windows for 15 minutes in the morning, for a complete change of energy in your home.

2. Walk through your home and tidy up as you walk. The more cleaning and de-cluttering you do, the greater the energy shifts.

3. When de-cluttering is too daunting a task, place a crystal ball in this area. Amazingly, over the next few days and weeks, that area will clean up, seemingly by itself. Well, it will probably use you as a tool. :-) The crystal makes it easy to de-clutter. Of course, once that area is done, you can move your crystal onto the next area where major chi-shifting is needed.

4. Walk again through your home and pick up anything broken. Once collected, assess: a) Repairable? b) Replaceable? c) Do you need it? Act upon your verdict. For sure, replace cracked mirrors as they result in a flawed perception of yourself and your situation. Everything reflected in the mirror will be cracked either literally or symbolically.

5. For an easy abundance-fix: put 3 Chinese coins in the money corner of your home.

6. Walk again through your home, now with the Bagua colors in mind. Stop at all the Bagua areas where you want improvement. Bring in more of the particular colors that enhance each specific Bague corner.

7. In complement with this, place Red Envelops for affirmations in all Bagua corners where you would like to see positive change. Write your affirmations as if the change is already happening.

8. For another easy fix: hang a wooden or bamboo wind chime to boost your popularity and bring in auspicious energy. A 5-cylinder chime to protect against bad luck, 6-8 Six cylinders for good luck.

9. Use indoor green plants to activate stagnant energy, particularly in corners.

10. To claim the energy of any missing corners in your home: put a sun/moon sign inside the room, at the missing corner's side. For the same purpose, place mirrors on the wall to reclaim the missing corners.

11. For long hallways, hang a crystal halfway. Also, consider a lit statue or painting of a deity at the end of the hall.

12. Here is a fun tip: to enhance your knowledge, place a cone shape hat in your self-knowledge area.

13. Note that the corners are stronger than the centers when placing cure objects. Adjust previously placed cures for enhanced effect.

14. If you happen to be looking for a new home, note that the North-side of the street is the stronger side of the street, and the South side the weaker side. So, pick one on the North side.

15. Last but not least: to improve your love life, work on your bedroom. Clean up and move things around. Remove things from under the bed and if possible store it elsewhere. Declutter. Make sure your images feature couples, not lone individuals. Balance the space next to the bed on the left and right. This promotes equality between partners. Add some rose quartz, and you are done.

Feng Shui

Feng shui (; fehng-shway in English) is an ancient Chinese system of aesthetics believed to utilize the Laws of both heaven (astronomy) and earth (geography) to help one improve life by receiving positive Qi.

The original designation for the discipline is Kan Yu (; literally: Tao of heaven and earth).

The words 'feng shui' literally translate as "wind-water"in English. This is a cultural shorthand taken from the following passage of the Zhangshu (Book of Burial) by Guo Pu of the Jin Dynasty:

Qi rides the wind and scatters, but is retained when encountering water.

Many modern enthusiasts claim that feng shui is the practice of arranging objects (such as furniture) to help people achieve their goals. More traditionally, feng shui is important in choosing a place to live and finding a burial site, along with agricultural planning.
