Do you understand Feng Shui and the profound effect it can have on your health, wealth and happiness. Need Feng Shui tips, products and remedies.

FENG SHUI LITERALLY MEANS Wind and Water

AN ANCIENT BODY OF KNOWLEDGE WHICH ORIGINATED THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO IN CHINA.

We have all experienced Feng Shui in our lives. Many of us have favourite memories, places, a sense of belonging and security and harmony within nature and our environment.
What you felt was good Feng Shui. The energy of a place or indeed your own energy, and how the two interact is central to Feng Shui. Feng Shui promises that once you create balance and harmony you will increase your peace, security, prosperity, happiness, health, love and luck.

Feng Shui is the ancient art and science of placement, to bring about a balance between people and their environment. Good Feng Shui enables us to enhance and increase balance, harmony, health and prosperity within our living and working environment. We all wish for the best possible support for good health and prosperity. These principles can be applied to your home or business.

Feng Shui is a mathematical science and there is an analytical process involved. It has been around for over one thousand years and is practiced extensively around the world. It has been applied by private home owners through to the largest of corporations and for many varied reasons. Although today, architects are using Feng Shui in their work in major ways, the majority of us have homes, work spaces and physical environments which are not energy balanced. So it is not surprising that many of us experience a lack of balance and harmony. Classical Feng Shui is the most important cure but modern cures can also be supportive.

Feng Shui is the ancient art of energy flow in the home and environment. It has been practiced successfully in Chinese homes for over a thousand years. It has now become increasingly popular in the West, as people discover that by following its principles of furniture placement and the right use of colour, they can dramatically improve the atmosphere in their homes, relationships, lives; business and environment. Thus increasing their overall happiness and well being.

Feng Shui works on the basis that there are energy current - known as chi - that flow through the home. When these flow through the home, the atmosphere is vibrant and positive. But when blocked negative energies and obstructions are present. These stagnate and may cause damage to the health and attitudes of the people living there, creating arguments, sickness, misfortune, bad luck, set backs and difficulties.

The Five Elements Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood govern energy and relate to colour. Colour is one of the highest vibrations of energy. With the help of correct element and colour placement in your home, you can balance out the energy forces within.

The calculations used in the Flying Star method of Feng Shui are based on thousands of years of observation about man in his environment. A compass reading is required, and together with other details about the home or business, information is gained which is then used to provide cures to balance the energies that are present. Just like a horoscope, your building can have yearly positive and negative influences. This can be remedied.

A Good Feng Shui consultation will take many aspects into consideration. When having a consultation it is important to consider what changes, if any, you require in your home. There is no bad home - all homes and businesses are maps of who we are, our past, present and future.

Have you ever experienced difficulties after moving into a new home? Do you remember visiting a house that you couldn't wait to escape from? Chances are that you were picking up on the negative energy of these environments, and this made you feel uncomfortable. Disease, relationship conflicts, infertility, accidents and obstacles are just some things that can result from living in a discordant environment.

Some people deal with this discordant environment unconsciously, by spending all their time outside the home or by going on holiday, as they know they will feel much better away from home. Alternatively, some may notice that they feel sick on weekdays in an unhealthy work environment and feel more healthy on the weekends while at home.
The problem may have many origins, including incorrect placement, poor room orientation, an unsupportive surrounding landscape, harmful earth energies or negative energy from past residents.

Feng Shui can help to recognize and counteract possible detrimental influences. It enables you to align your home and space using principles and placement to nourish positive growth and circumstances in your life.

Naturally, our destiny and fortune are also influenced by factors other than our homes. None of the problems resulting from poor Feng Shui are inevitable and insurmountable. Adhering to the major precepts of Feng Shui is said to create happy home karma whereby all enjoy optimal health, wealth and happiness.

A Feng Shui consultation involves a reading of the home or business and a personal four pillars chart for each occupant of the home or business. The Four Pillars of Destiny is a birth chart for the individual person and can be a powerful tool. It shows us:

· Colour relationships, careers, elements and aspects of life and so much more that can assist in balancing our lives

· Form School is where we look at objects and their placements. Ponds, water features, mirrors, T-junctions, bed placements, trees, paths, desk placements and much more. All these aspects have an effect on your home or business

· Kua Directions are taken into consideration in your consultation. This is where we are able to work out which are your four favorable and auspicious and four unfavorable and inauspicious directions. Then we are able to place furniture, like desks and beds so that you will face your auspicious directions when possible

Remember your home or business can be your greatest ally in helping achieve your potential. Our home has an enormous impact on our state of mind. A home can give us the feeling of despair or can be a great comfort, or sanctuary. Every ancient culture has rituals, myths and traditions based on the fact that our living space profoundly affects our wellbeing.

Where Did Feng Shui come from...

Feng Shui originated in China, over five thousand years ago, as a way of achieving harmony between the environment and human beings. Feng Shui was originally used for agriculture,
then for orientating dwellings and places of business.
The success of Feng Shui is assured with a potent combination of architecture, interior design, philosophy and common sense.
We are fortunate to be able to choose the environment
in which we live and work. When our environment supports us, we function better.
The environment in which we live is therefore an extension of ourselves, our personalities.
The environment represents the personality of the
people who live there.
This applies to our home, business, suburb and / or
country.
Feng Shui understands the interaction between human beings and the environment, providing a complex system to harmonise these forces.
Contemporary Feng Shui follows strict laws of nature,
combining technology to detect and remedy unwanted influences.
Feng Shui determines a building's prosperity and
support according to the ever changing cycles of time.
Good Feng Shui improves health, wellbeing and environment.
In the process nurturing increased happiness and prosperity.

Why Does Feng Shui Work ...

Time Afflictions ?

The wonderful thing about Feng Shui is the positive benefit it creates for everyone. Feng Shui is not just about becoming wealthy or achieving success - it is concerned with enriching lives, reducing aggravations, and bringing happiness into relationships. It is about feeling happy, prosperous, and contented.

When you know how to orientate your doors, organize the layout of rooms, arrange furniture, be creative in the use of colours, shapes and materials and know about placement of decorative items in your home, you will discover a new energy and zest for life. Life will become joyous; your relationships with loved ones will reach a better level of understanding. Interactions with others living in the home will begin to improve.

If you also know how to keep your Feng Shui up-to-date from one year to the next, the benefits will be even greater.

When your home enjoys good Feng Shui, it literally becomes infused with harmonious energy and in such an atmosphere general health is greatly improved. With your home happy and calm it will become a real haven, a sanctuary - just as a home should be.

Feng Shui is easily applied. The rule is to keep the Chi moving - never let it stagnate or become unbalanced. Sound, activity, movement and people all keep Chi in motion. When a space stays too still and is neglected for a period of time it stagnates. However, the simple act of moving the furniture and using different areas of your home will shift the energy, making you feel much better.

The arrangement of our home space is something many of us take for granted. Often we focus our attention purely on the aesthetic aspect of arrangement and décor. Insufficient consideration is often given to Feng Shui design implications. Correct Feng Shui inputs can improve the luck of almost every home, irrespective of style or decoration.

At worst, bad Feng Shui and/or negative elements lead to anger, loss and even violence. Bad Feng Shui means negatives are present, causing (you) problems from health issues to loss of finances. If the cause of bad energy is not addressed, you will continue to suffer difficult times.

TIME AFFLICTIONS

The other aspect of Feng Shui that must be accounted, for is time. While physical afflictions are the result of placement, design, blockages and orientation, time afflictions are the result of passing time. Therefore we have two dimensions which influence Feng Shui - space and time. To ensure that you make the best of time energy, you need to update your Feng Shui in accordance with changing time.

The Chinese place great emphasis on the calendar. The main Chinese calendar is the lunar calendar. Each cycle of calendar time is expressed in terms of the five elements water, wood, fire, earth and metal. These five elements combined with the twelve animals mean that each major cycle lasts for 60 years.

As we move from one year to the next, energy changes. Transforming from yin to yang, from element to element, from one animal sign to the next. Depending on the ruling element and animal, from one month to the next, the energy in the home and that of personalities changes.
Time exerts a very strong impact on your Feng Shui, your luck and destiny.

Good Feng Shui can not and does not last forever. It has to be recharged with small but significant changes every year.

Energy must be refreshed, reorganized and re energized. Spaces and places need rejuvenating. Energy must be kept moving.

Flying Star formula Feng Shui is a technical approach which directly addresses the effect of time on the energy of homes and businesses.

We are currently in a twenty year period ruled by the number eight. We entered this new period of 8 on February 4 2004. With the change of period comes an intrinsic change of energy.

Prior to February 2004, the world was influenced by the energy of metal. When the pursuit of wealth overshadowed most other aspirations. Money was made from metal energy this occurred especially in the USA - (think of Bill Gates and Microsoft along with developments in computer technology).
Period seven ended in 2004.

In the last year, many countries have experienced upheaval - with leadership changes or renewals. This has been felt on a macro and micro level around the world from the corridors of national governments to households and offices.

With the period change, houses that were built in period seven experienced a weakening in their vitality. All buildings constructed during this time need their energy revitalized and replenished.

You will see at a glance, that by simply opening a window or a door, or by moving a mirror. By implementing the Flying Star formula, painting, or buying new rugs, carpet or floor coverings you can safeguard the harmony of your home by uplifting the energy.

You can tell from month to month where illness energy lingers. This can be suppressed with remedies. Most importantly you can put a stop to financial loss, broken relationships, frustration, disharmony and the pernicious effect of aggravating people.

By investing time and effort to Feng Shui your home, you will have added a valuable resource to your life. Enhancing the energy of your surroundings with Feng Shui, your view and approach to living spaces will never be the same again.

2008 Year of Earth Rat

The Chinese have a unique calendar system commonly known as the 'Hsia calendar'. It is a system that provides us with information about prevailing elemental influences at any given point in time. It makes use of the five elements -water, wood, fire, earth and metal- and their cycles, to determine the various aspects affecting the world.
In Chinese astrology, the rat, being the first animal to hear the call of Buddha has many attributes that make up its character. The rat has a noble disposition, often torn between socializing and home life. They are quick thinking, agile and adaptable strongly valuing stability in their life.
2008 is the year of the Earth Rat and it is influenced by two elements - earth and water. So, this coming year is represented by the image of Yang Water sitting below Yang Earth. In accordance with the destructive cycle of the five elements - Earth conquers Water. Whilst this is true, the Yang Earth sitting atop the Yang Water Rat suggests the image of a mountain floating above massive water or perhaps, a mass of floating ice. This combined with the water rat being in the foundation, means that water will yield the most influence over the coming year. This elemental relationship represents a time of apparent calm yet underlying tensions.
These two elements together can also bring about natural disasters such as earthquakes, landslides and floods.
The Chinese calendar moves in cycles of sixty years. If we go back to 1948 we will find that the Fraser River in Canada flooded due to extensive snowmelts. In Foochow, China, floods killed approximately 3 500 people. There were at least 28 earthquakes recorded in 1948 higher than 7 on the Richter scale.
Another area of concern is the possible increase of accidents in the aviation industry. If we go back to 1948 when airline travel wasn't as frequent as today, Northwest airlines DC4 crashed into a mountain in March and another jet crashed during a storm in August of the same year. Air France lost a jet over the Atlantic Ocean and BEA had a mid air collision in Berlin.
1948 being the last time we experienced the Earth Rat was also when the conflict between East and West escalated. If history is anything to go by, we could see some turbulence in 2008 with more positive outcomes as we move into 2009.
Given that the rat is the first in the cycle of the twelve animals, this could represent new beginnings and even a 'changing of the guard' in many countries where an unusual number of new leaders will come into power at around the same time.
During 2008 there will be a clash that occurs for those born in the year of the Horse. For example people that were born in the years of 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002. It is advisable for those born in these years to be more cautious thereby avoiding accidents during the coming year and wear the symbol of the Ox for some protection. 2008 also means that Horse people may feel restless and want to move house, change career and even travel more regularly. However, it is recommended not to travel towards the North for this period of time.
For those born in the year of the Rat; 1972 and 1984 - this does not automatically equate to a good year. In fact, it is considered an offending year for the rat person and can create frustrations. Therefore, it is also advisable to carry or wear an Ox pendant or charm.
For those born in the year of the Rabbit, for example, in the years of 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, may experience some frustrations and unwellness. You would do well to also wear the pendant of the Ox to diminish this influence.
If you are born in the year of the Rabbit whilst there are more opportunities for interaction with the opposite gender there may also be some associated frustrations.
For 'singles' born in the year of the goat; 1955, 1967 and 1979 along with those born in the Pig years of 1959, 1971 and 1983 - this is the time to be proactive about your social life.

Feng Shui - Age of Eight

Most of us have felt the influences of a coming new energy for the last couple of years. Now, as of 4th February 2004, there will be a major shift in energy and we will enter a new twenty-year Feng Shui cycle called the "Age of Eight". The age of eight will be a time full of revolutionary changes and newfound opportunities.
Entering this new twenty-year influence we come under the reign of the trigram "Ken" and one of the representations of Ken is the 'young son'. Therefore the focus will be on 'youth', particularly young men. So, given the representation of the "Age of Eight", we will see young people, particularly young men come in to power positions and achieve success at a much younger age than we currently consider usual. So we can anticipate that our world leaders will be much younger, that the number of our young feted personalities will continue to rise and that more men will be interested in maintaining youthful appearances. And with the focus being on youth it may bring further prosperity to the health industry and we may even see revolutionary discoveries in the field of anti- aging.
However, as with everything in life there is a flip side. So, as much as the Trigram Ken can bring a lot of positive clout to young people it will also wield negative influences. Consequently there will be more tragedies involving young people and the associated social problems will continue to rise.
The Trigram Ken also represents the hand, which may bring us into the realm of a new technology - it is anticipated that Robots will be the focus of technology during the next twenty years.
From a Feng Shui perspective, this will be a time where the energies of your home must be revised. What we once stimulated we now must not - in fact the reverse is required. So for those wishing to maintain a consistent and good quality lifestyle it is imperative to have the Feng Shui of your home and business premises adjusted to meet the new cycle of Eight.
This new cycle also favors regions where there are mountains (which symbolize human harmony) in the Northeast and water (which symbolizes money prosperity) evident in the Southwest. Consequently, should a country or city have this landscape configuration human harmony will prevail and the benefits of living life in unity will triumph and money prosperity will be in abundance. Hong Kong has such a landscape formation and can therefore expect their more current woes to dissipate and both harmony and success to return during the Age of Eight. In recent years Hong Kong has also been leading by example and has built in accordance with this principle by placing both Disney World and the International airport in the Southwest.

The Five Elements

The FIRE element exudes an extremely high yang energy and is most powerfully symbolized by red and purple, bright lights, candles and sunshine. Triangular, pyramid, pointed and star shapes are also associated with fire, as are zig zag and geometric patterns and plants with pointy leaves. You can add a red vase, a group of lit candles, a pyramid shaped sculpture or scatter some red and purple cushions and rugs. You could also install a skylight or fireplace, to add fire to a room.

The EARTH element is symbolized by earthenware objects, porcelain and stone. It is also symbolized by earthy colours such as yellow, brown, ochre, terracotta and beige. The earth element brings harmony to a space, so if you want to kick start a relationship or boost your ability to learn, you should use ceramic bowls, porcelain jars, terracotta pots or furnishings in earth tones, even crystals.
Keep in mind that the earth element is also associated with low wide and cube shaped objects - like coffee tables, and as low spreading plants.

The METAL element is yang because hard reflective surfaces make chi flow faster. It is also symbolized by metal items, such as bowl of coins, photo frames, candlesticks, plates, clocks or works of art. Crystals can also be used as well as white, grey or silver coloured objects and spherical, round or domed objects. All types of metals can be used including stainless steel, copper, brass, iron, silver, aluminum, and gold. Really hard, polished stone surfaces such as granite or marble can also be used to add metal energy to a room. Black wrought iron is a good metal example.

The WATER element can be quite strong. Many of us find the sound of water soothing but it can also be used to energize a space. Water is associated with the north and career section. Be sparing in use as moving water can over-stimulate chi, this is why tabletop fountains, aquariums or images of water should never be used in the bedroom. Water is also associated with black, blue, irregular or wavy shapes and translucent materials like glass. To add water energy to a room you could introduce a blue sofa or decorative items, black shelving, a textured glass bowl, a curvy chair. A water feature placed correctly can calm and energize chi.

The WOOD element is associated with trees, vegetation, the colour green and cylindrical, tall shapes. To encourage and improve energy, place furniture or decorative objects which have been fashioned out of wood in the appropriate sectors. You can also use a tall plant, vertically striped blinds a green vase or up lighters? When choosing furniture, keep in mind that soft -wood is yin and hard-wood is yang, so balance out the use of both woods.

Helpful Tips - Symbolism

Understanding the flow of energy (chi)

Feng Shui is understanding the flow of chi, the hidden life breath that permeates the environment. When energy is in disarray, misfortunes rule the day.

Yin and Yang in the cosmic balance

All the energies of your personal space are in a constant state of flux. Yin and yang energies dance together continually - striving for the balance that brings harmony. Yin is cool and dark and lifeless - still. Yang is hot and bright and full of life. Keep yin and yang in harmony within your home and you will enjoy good luck.

Regular shapes are better

Regular shapes are preferred to irregular shapes. Squares and rectangles have better Feng Shui than triangles or shapes with missing corners.

Display money frogs for luck

Place a money frog in the vicinity of your front door, facing inwards as if it has just come into the house or business.

Water features work best in the north

Mini water fountains or small ponds in your garden bring exceptional money luck when located in the north or southeast corners. Check this is ok with your Flying Stars chart first though.
Curved pathways bring better luck
Any pathways that lead to your front door are best to meander, thereby slowing down the energy that brings good fortune.

Beware of straight roads

Front doors should not face oncoming roads e.g. t-junctions, end of streets. Slow down the energy by placing clumps of trees, a fence, wall, hedge or Pa Kua symbol (purchased via Feng Shui stores).

Open windows

Open windows in each room at least once a week in order to move stale air and bring in fresh yang air and energy, to attract good fortune.

Fresh flowers

Fresh flowers are great yang energy. Never leave dying withering flowers always replace immediately.
Artificial verses dried flowers
Dried flowers are not considered auspicious as they can undermine your success. Artificial silk or plastic is preferable.

Water should be on the left

Water features in front of homes should always be on the left of the main door from inside the house looking out. This will ensure the stability of the couple living there. Water on the right hand side causes males to have a roving eye.

Overhead beams

Exposed overhead beams cause bad energy to press down on anyone sitting or sleeping below. Hang a six -rod wind chime on the beam to counter this Feng Shui defect in the home or office. Do ensure that the rods are hollow rather than solid so that the energy can travel through them and transform into good luck, alternately you can use a pair of flutes.

Feng Shui Common Words

AUSPICIOUS FENG SHUI means enjoying the 8 types of Feng Shui luck. These are wealth, good health, a good family life, a long life, good luck with children, good mentors, a good reputation and a good education.

BAD FENG SHUI this is the opposite of the above. Most bad Feng Shui can be remedied or improved, with the appropriate cures.

BAGUA is a sacred octagonal figure that affords protection from negative forces and activates positive forces. There are yin bagua reserved for the protection of the dead and yang bagua for the living.

CHÍ is the fundamental energy or breath found in every animate and inanimate object. An intangible force in everyone and everything. It can be positive as in Sheng Chi (growth breath) or negative as in Shar Chi (killing breath).

COMPASS FENG SHUI authentic Feng Shui practioners always use compass Feng Shui. Advanced practitioners use the Lo Pan (the Feng Shui compass) which contains many of the powerful compass formulas.

DESTRUCTIVE CYCLE the cycle of elements in which wood devours earth, which destroys water, which kills fire, which consumes metal, which destroys wood. This cycle must be followed to ensure that the elements of objects, directions and locations in any room do not destroy one another.

ELEMENTS (the five) used in Chinese medicine. The core concept in Feng Shui practice is the theory of the five elements. If you understand this concept, you will become adept in Feng Shui and also gain a firm grounding in the fundamental philosophy of Chinese thought. Many Chinese things are based on the five elements from fortune telling (I Ching) to medical cures. The five elements explain the action of Feng Shui and involve a positive cycle, wood-fire-earth-metal-water, and a negative cycle, wood-earth-water-fire-metal.
The five elements theory is the foundation of all these esoteric skills. In Feng Shui, knowledge of the 5 elements theory and its cycles - productive, exhausting and destructive - offers invaluable insights into the cures, remedies and energizers recommended by Feng Shui Masters.

FENG SHUI situated in heaven and on earth, man is subject to the opposing influence of celestial and terrestrial energy. The aim of Feng Shui, an ancient Chinese and Tibetan practice, is to find the best way and the best place to capture the two types of energy harmoniously.

FLYING STARS this is a powerful formula that reveals the transformation of luck in any living space from period to period and enables you to plan your life accordingly. This formula identifies various types of good and bad luck in the 9 palaces of any home, including identifying illness and loss stars. The 9 palaces are the rooms in the home demarcated according to compass directions. The formula is based on the numbers of the Lo Shu square and it involves numerology in Feng Shui - knowing what the numbers 1 to 9 mean and what number combinations indicate. When reading a Flying Star natal chart you will become aware of how effective Feng Shui can be. When you design your space according to the information given in these charts, at the very least you will be protected from bad Feng Shui.

FUK LUK SAU three Feng Shui gods, respectively, the god of Wealth and Happiness, the gods of High Rank and Affluence, and the god of Health and Longevity.

GEOMANCY means, literally, divination by the earth and the ground, it is a divinatory method that consists of interpreting 16 figures, each made up of 4 lines of points, based on Yin (even) and Yang (odd).

KUA NUMBERS part of the 8 mansions formula. They are derived from a person's year of birth and sex and are the key to determining a persons auspicious or inauspicious directions.

LO SHU SQUARE the 3 by 3 grid with 9 numbers on which Feng Shui compass formulas are based.

I CHING is the original philosophical creation of a man called Hi Fo. After combining the Yin-Yang energy in threes to form 8 basic trigrams, Hi Fo then combined the 8 trigrams (each made up of 3 Yin or Yang lines) to form 64 hexagrams (each made up of 6 yin or yang lines). Each of the hexagrams can be used in clairvoyance or teaching.

PA KUA an 8 sided symbol that has trigrams arranged around the 8 sides. Each trigram gives meaning to the 8 major directions of the compass, which are also shown on the Pa Kua. South is always shown on top.

PA KUA 8 ASPIRATIONS this is the easiest of Feng Shui methods. It combines the use of symbolism with the Pa Kua directions and the attributes of each room to activate the luck of 8 aspirations. These aspirations relate to career growth, attainment of wealth, enjoying good health and family life, achieving recognition and fame, enjoying good children, attracting luck in marriage and romance, having good education luck and enjoying the patronage of powerful and influential people. Check flying star natal chart prior to using this system as flying star over rules and you may activate the wrong type of luck. Feng Shui is based on the premise that there are 8 different kinds of luck to which people aspire. Each of these aspirations is associated with a direction on the compass, and by enhancing the Feng Shui in that sector of the home, good fortune associated with the kind of luck you are activating will manifest. This is one of the most potent systems for activating energy in homes, but Flying Star numbers are stronger.

POISON ARROW a straight or sharp structure, from which chi bounces off at an angle, creating harmful energy.

PRODUCTIVE CYCLE the cycle of elements in which water feeds wood, which feeds fire, which makes earth, which in turn holds water. This cycle must be taken into account to ensure that the elements of objects, directions and locations in any room do not destroy one another.

TRIGRAM symbol made of broken or unbroken lines symbolizing the way in which yin and yang combine to make chi. There are 8 trigrams and each has a different combination of broken or unbroken lines and carries different associations.

YANG is the name given to the masculine side of the energy of the universe. By extension, Yang is creative energy, the sky, the sun, the day, strength and war. This energy is symbolized by a continuous/unbroken line.

YIN is the name given to the feminine side of the energy of the universe. By extension, Yin is receptive energy, the earth, the moon, night, passivity and woman. This energy is symbolized by a broken line.
