Hi. I have a "business" of ferrets now. Have a 2 year old white one - Miss-Chief, and two nine week old sisters Elvira and Muza. What great company these extra two have made to is. And my how different those sisters are.

Ohh they are so CUTE! I would love to have one .. almost, lol. Right now I have too many little pets that all must be inside so I guess unless I get a bigger house they will have to do. I sure love these little guys though. THUMBS UP and SQUID ANGEL BLESSED

Oh, they look absolutely adorable! I've never seen one before, but have heard of them. Great information here. Blessed. :)

Your ferrets are SO cute! We thought about getting a ferret for my son but we're waiting until he is a little more responsible. Its a big responsibility and we don't want him to think of a pet as a "toy". If he still wants one in a year or so, we'll see. Nice lens. =)

Nice lens, Yes I do like ferrets. They look like great pets, my husband had one when he was younger, but I am not too sure I would like one as a pet. Thanks for sharing. *Blessed*

This Angel for Small Mammals was searching the lens list and found this amazing lens! And written by an amazing person! I just had to give it a boost with a blessing. And, it's featured on Angel Flys Over Small Mammals.

Another wonderful lens on ferrets. Thanks for extending your support to them with the ferrets you have as well as helping support centers.
  • Ferrety1 Jun 9, 2011 @ 1:37 pm | delete
Yes they are awesome little critters! I wish more people were "ferret aware", my current roommate keeps saying how he had a ferret once. From the way he acts toward mine, I'm betting he had his for a week or 2. Sad really.
I am one of many ferret owners who are trying to educate others about these lovable little animals.
  • Jerrad28 Jun 9, 2011 @ 11:48 am | delete
    ferrets are awesome!

Ferrets are great! I appreciate that you added info about adopting one. They are cute and cuddly but they need supervision and love.

Ferrets are so much fun! Very mischievous though! My husband and I had an adopted ferret a few years ago. It had been dumped outside and then trapped. Amazing animal, and got along fine with our cats!
  • driveindustries Feb 15, 2011 @ 5:24 pm | delete
What sweet little creatures! Congrats on a real good lens.
  • Ferrety1 Feb 4, 2011 @ 3:14 pm | delete
That is something that your dog and ferrets have in common, but because of the size of a ferret and the natural instinct of the dog it would not be safe for either one. Ferrets have very strong jaws and can do major damage when cornered, just like any other animal will. I have not had this happen myself, but I have heard of it happening.
Don't get me wrong, ferrets are not man vicious little animals, they are sweet, lovable, fun loving little creatures. Unfortunately they are greatly misunderstood by a lot of people. That is why myself and other ferret owners try to educate others about these fun-loving little animals.
  • GonnaFly Feb 4, 2011 @ 12:27 am | delete
We were talking to a ferret owner who told us they had to make sure that the toilet lid was down since the ferrets could get in and drown. They certainly look adorable, but I don't think our dog would get on with them, although I believe his breed was bred for ratting.

i've never had a ferret but now i think they are adorable! cheers
  • mysticmama Jan 16, 2011 @ 10:53 pm | delete
I should get one of those ferret plushies for my kitties, I bet they'd love it! :)
  • Ferrety1 Jan 14, 2011 @ 10:56 am | delete
That is their main use in England and other European countries, to keep rodents under control. In fact that is what they were originally domesticated for over 5000 years ago. In fact ferrets have been domesticated longer than cats!
  • skiesgreen Jan 14, 2011 @ 2:20 am | delete
These would not be my choice of a pet and now this lens tells why. My father kept ferrets when he was a young man because they were useful for going into rabbit warrans and driving out the occupants. Now I never hear of anyone keeping them around here. Nice lens though and great pics.
  • Ferrety1 Jan 13, 2011 @ 2:14 pm | delete
Before you consider adopting one of these fuzzie, adorable little bundles of joy, please do your homework. There are so many resources online, ferrets are higher maintenance than other pets. They are prone to cancers and have special dietary needs.
That is unfortunately why so many end up in ferret shelters, because someone falls in love with them and does not realize how much care and maintainance goes into these little guys. The first time a new uneducated ferret owner sees how ferrets play, they think they are wild and vicious.
Unfortunately, it is mainly this reason that ferret shelters are so crowded with fur babies who were dropped off because their owner did not understand them.
Please for the sake of your potential addition to your home, do your research.

Wow , they are so cute and loving. Adore the ferrets and beautiful images you have got.
  • Janiece Jan 13, 2011 @ 11:18 am | delete
Cute, cute, cute, cute, cute!!! My son and I watched every single one of those ferret photos, and we both want one now! They are adorable! The only problem is we already have 4 pets. I'll check to see if there's a ferret shelter in our area.
  • nightbear Dec 28, 2010 @ 11:53 pm | delete
Oh my gosh, I hate my own ignorance, I didn't even know there were ferret shelters. They are so precious, I can't imagine cruelty toward them. Or even awful neglect. God bless your efforts.

Cute little guys...thanks for sharing...Merry Christmas to you and yours!
I wish you much health, happiness & success for 2011!

I have had a limited exposure to ferrets and have to say that they have wonderful personalities. Just like people each one is different. Lovely little friends!
  • Ferrety1 Dec 21, 2010 @ 2:52 pm | delete
In response to sharpturn's post, the biggest problem is people who decide on the spur of the moment that they want a ferret. I always tell people who are considering it to do their research. Ferrets are much more involved than people think, they have very specific dietary needs (they are strictly carnivores), they have specific health issues and unfortunately are prone to certain cancers and ailments.
I lost my oldest ferret, Calamity Jane to one of these ailments just a few days ago. It is so sad when it happens, but you have to help along their cagemates, the other fuzzies feel the loss as well.
The rewards of a ferret's love for me far outweigh the loss, if it didn't, I would never own a pet again. As it is, I am owned by 5 ferrets and 2 cats. They keep me going and keep me company.
  • genglo Dec 24, 2010 @ 11:35 am | delete
I'm so sorry for your loss. The ferrets take our hearts with them when they leave for the bridge. I miss my babies that have crossed over so much, but the short years we have with them is definitely worth the pain.
  • sharpturn Dec 21, 2010 @ 2:04 am | delete
I had no idea there were shelters for Ferrets. I guess people buy them as pets not fully understanding its needs. I dont know much about Ferrets but I am assuming these cute creatures need a little more attention than a cat would need.

    Nice lens!

    Andy

I see from your pics that you have a couple of brown-nosers! I am owned by a business of 5 ferrets myself. I have had fuzzies since adopting my first albino in 1996 and have not had less that 4 at any one time. I cannot picture my life without my little fur-angels, they are truly an addiction after adopting your first ferret.
  • WindyWinters Dec 14, 2010 @ 4:23 pm | delete
Thanks for sharing your love for ferrets. We had lots of small pets when our children were young but not any ferrets. Your ferrets are too cute!

I love ferrets, I have had them all my life. My baby Junior is a little fatty but we still love him. He loves stealing my stuff and hiding it and getting into the trashcans, but it's their nature ha ha. I have a black footed one and they are soo cute and cuddly.
  • milkcananime Apr 16, 2009 @ 12:46 pm | delete
So cute..I adore animals! I do not think Singapore will allow these ferrets in for sale. They should be endangered. Or may be transferred away to the Singapore Night Safari where they will be trained to do some simple animal tricks. Great lens! 5 Stars!

OK, not very healthy I know, but my ferret Snowie loves lollipops. We give her one twice a month and it's like the greatest thing for her. She's 7 and a half now, so I figure everyone needs treats in their old age - LOL. I hope someone's around to give me lollies when I am old.

We have three boys and one girl affectionally called, "Sela and the Boys," Recently, we fostered an additional five ferrets while our local ferret rescue moved to a new location. Our ferret room was hectic! We definitely love the linoleum floor for easy cleaning. We'll never be ferretless!
  • Greendrv Oct 6, 2006 @ 11:26 am | delete
I currently have four ferrets (three adopted from a ferret shelter) and those four boys bring nothing but joy to my life. If you are interested in getting a ferret, this lens is a great place to start. Ferrets aren't pets for everyone, so please make sure you can handle the responsibility!!!
  • genglo Aug 8, 2006 @ 4:32 pm | delete
We actually have ferrets living in our bedroom. If you use cloth bedding and launder it frequently, and use a litter like feline pine, there is no smell. Our ferrets smell like warm corn chips and fabric softener.

I loved my ferret and have wanted to adopt another. I just have to convince my hubby that he can get over the smell. ;)
