Ferris bueller day off is a 1986 American teen comedy film. It is written and directed by John Hughes. This movie was enthusiastically received by all the critics. The film follows high school senior Ferris Bueller, who decides to skip school and spend the day in downtown Chicago. He was accompanied by his girlfriend Sloane Peterson and his best friend Cameron Frye. He creatively avoids his school's Dean of the Students Edward Rooney and his resentful sister Jeanie. He also leaves his parents. During the film, Ferris occasionally breaks the fourth wall of speaking directly to the camera to explain to the audience his techniques and thoughts in a full length. When Ferris is back at school, he has the unconditional support of classmates. A plenty friends but the skiver has two natural enemies. One is his sister Jeanie who was his highly-strung disapproving sister. The other is Edward Rooney, the dean of the Students.
The iconic role he will never be able to entirely escape from the dean. Matthew Broderick is the tricky teenager who is willing to go to extraordinary lengths to get out there spending the day cooped up in a stuffy classroom. He asks this 'How could I possibly be expected to handle school on a day like this?' before the camera. Hughes wrote the screenplay in less than a week and shot the film. It was a budget of $6 million. It happened over several months in late 1985. The featuring of many famous Chicago towers including the then Sears tower and also the Art institute of Chicago, the film was Hughes kind of love letter to the city. This was the admirable quote which states like this "I really wanted to capture as much of Chicago as I could. Not just in the architecture and landscape, but the spirit."
Director John Hughes has put himself firmly on the map as the King of the Teen Comedy with this one. The long before the genre has turned out into the increasing tedious string of gross out gags. We have to put up with it till today. In fact it was the 15 certificate handed to this. And this one seems to be a little harsh by today's standards. It was given that there is very little swearing. There was no nudity and there were only one extremely mild and a comical moment of violence. And that is the scene when Mr.Rooney got kicked up on the head, so it doesn't really count as violence. Furthermore, it is to know that Ferris is an angel in the eyes of his parent's eyes. It is Ferris's day off and so he is out to enjoy himself.
