If the name reminds you of Dance Dance Revolution, it should. The
concept is the same. You choose a song; arrows come up or down the
screen; you match the arrows at the right time. Unlike DDR where you
play with your feet, in this game you play with your fingers. Since
most people have more nimble fingers than feet, once you get to a
higher level you can even see 3 key combos.

Don't be scared of playing though. The game has a big enough inventory for players of all levels.

You
can choose songs from 5 genres of music: Dance (and Dance 2), Hip Hop,
Rock, Funk, and Arcade. Most songs will be listed in order of skill
levels.

When you beat a song, you get credits. Sometimes you even get
tokens, or skill access, or secret songs. Tokens allow you to play in
the Token section. Skill access are songs you unlock after beating
certain skill levels of songs. Secret songs are song that are really
hard to get and the path to unlocking them is uncertain. Credits allow
you to buy songs in the FFR shop.

If you have a bad connection, you can even choose to play on low
resolution. The screen will be smaller and you'll have to squint a
little, but it will go faster.

Don't forget multiplayer! You can fight against opponents. You can even challenge a specific player and bid for credits.

Game rating: Amazing

FFR R2 is a game still in-progress that is even more linked to its
DDR relative. The menu uses the same setup and everything from the
arrows to the life bar resembles it more. However, this game has its
ups and downs. While the feel is more authentic, the controls are not
as responsive. When you come in slightly late or early, you're still
supposed to be credited (you just don't get a perfect. You get good or
OK). In this game, you're supposed to get that, but more oft than not
the game won't recognized a late/early entry at all and will count it
as a miss.

This wouldn't be that much of a problem if you didn't lose so much
from misses. You lose far more of your life points from missing on this
game, and gain far less from good entries, than on the regular FFR.

Also! While you do get to choose a skill level prior to playing,
it doesn't actually filter out songs of a different skill range. This
makes it very easy for someone to pick a song outside of their regular
skill level. That means advanced players can accidentally pick songs
that are too easy (and therefore boring) and newer players can pick
songs that are absolutely unbeatable for them.

This makes this version of the game unplayable for people who aren't always right on time.

Game rating: pain in the butt

FFR Resonance isn't its own game. Users (like you and I) can submit
their own Sim Files. That means people actually pick songs and create
their own moves for them and then submit them for all to see. Usually
they will make 4 versions for all 4 skill levels available.

This is still in beta but a lot nicer playing-wise than FFR R2.
It's too bad you have to reload the web page in order to get to a new
song (instead of being redirected to the menu)

Game rating: Great

This is nothing to do with DDR (finally!). This is its own game. It
doesn't even use arrows, it uses a mouse. What you do is you have this
circle and you have these lines that will occasionally come out from
the center into the actual contour of the circle. You have to try to
rotate your mouse to be there when the line and the circle meet.
Unfortunately the learning curve for the game is rather high, and
easier levels are far too boring. However, if you're willing to spend a
lot of time practicing, this can be a fun game. This isn't recommended
to play on a badly responsive mouse or touch pad.

There is also multi-player

Game rating: Good (Great if you manage to get past the learning curve)

This is the last game featured on the site. However, it actually
isn't on the site itself. It goes to another domain called
metrivia.com. As you can guess, this isn't a rhythm based game; it's a
trivia game.

Think "Who wants to be a millionaire" mixed with "Family Feud".

Game rating: Great (if you like quiz games)
