I love knitting becasue...

jennabee25 says:

I find it relaxing and I love the sense of accomplishment I get from doing it!

MerryM says:

The tailored look of knitting is great for clothing, or anything with color changes in it. And I learned it first, so it has a special place in my heart.

I love crochet because...

MomwithAHook says:

I love crochet because it was the first craft I learned with success. Haven't developed the same love for knitting but maybe after I learn how to knit a pair of socks I'll change my mind.

MerryM says:

Crochet takes less time than knitting, so it's great for a quick gift. And, I understand how to shape things more easily in crochet, so I use it for things like toys. And, it's just fun!

Who Inspired You?

Who inspired you to knit or crochet? Did your mom or grandmother teach you when you were little? Or, was it the other way around, and you learned from one of your kids? Did a good friend put a pair of needles or a hook in your hands and patiently guide you through your first project?

My mom tried teaching me when I was young. I was too frustrated back then but when I was pregnant with my second child I took lessons at a craft shop. I finally was a 'crafter' and have been creating ever since.

Ya, I head that story allot when I was working in craft shops. Sometimes the craftiness just sits dormant for a while then later breaks out all over. ;)

My grandmother attempted to teach me when I was quite young with disastrous results. I later picked up last October from teaching myself and taking classes. I'm about to finish my first garment! Still, I come from a line of knitters and am happy to keep the tradition alive.

How lovely! I hear similar stories all the time when teaching knitting. So many people learned from an older family member, left it, then picked it back up again later. Just think, one day you'll be passing on the torch to someone you care about. :)

My best friend, Jackie, taught me to knit. Her mother, Leona, managed the needlepoint shop where I worked, and she became my fiber art guru. Her creativity with yarns and threads inspired me to stretch myself and learn all I could about this great craft!

What do you love to make?

Vote for your favorite project

Do you wake up in the middle night thinking, "I know the perfect sweater to make with that purple alpaca in the bottom of my closet!" Do you pass by scarves in the mall knowing that the fifteen hand made ones you have back home look so much better? Do pictures of socks dance across your vision when you close your eyes?

What trips your trigger about knitting and/or crochet? What floats your boat about fiber art? What gets you yearnin' for yarn?
