Boat builders often take fiberglass fabric and cover the fabric with a layer of resin and wait for the resin to harden. This combination of resin and fabric forms the base of the boat hull.

Fiberglass fabric is generally made in factories around the world and is shipped in large volume shipping containers and trucks. On the retail level, it is sometimes sold by the pallet or roll.

The US market for fiberglass fabric has recently seen the entrance of Asian
competition who make fiberglass fabric for exporting.
