The Different Types Of Fibroids

Fibroids Miracle

  • Intramural fibroids - This is the most common type of fibroid tumor

  • Subserous fibroids - These grow from the outer layer of the wall of the womb and may grow on stalks, they are then called Pedunculated fibroids

  • Submucous fibroids - This type of fibroid develops in the muscle beneath the inner lining of the womb

  • Cervical fibroids - these grow in the cervix or neck of the womb

Common Fibroid Symptoms

The most common symptom of fibroid tumors is menorrhagia or heavy menstrual bleeding. This may also involve flooding ( a sudden gush of blood) long periods or the passing of large clots of blood. This can be very distressing and limit your lifestyle severely.

Anaemia - If fibroids cause heavy bleeding during your periods then the resultant blood loss may cause iron deficiency or amaemia. This can make you feel tired and weak.

Pain and Pressure - Large fibroids can make the womb large and bulky resulting in lower back pain or discomfort in the pelvic region. You may experience dull aching in your thighs or develop varicose veins.

Cramps - could be caused by large clots of blood passing through your cervix by your womb trying to expel a submucous fibroid which is growing on a stalk in the cavity of the womb

Fibroid Symptoms And Pregnancy

Most of the time fibroids will not stop you from getting pregnant, however when they appear in certain areas they can make conceiving difficult or they may lead to miscarriage.

Fibroid tumors may press on the fallopian tubes or block their entrance thereby preventing the the egg from reaching the uterus.

When submucous fibroids grow inward into the womb it's believed they may cause recurrent miscarriage.

A fibroid could affect your labour and birth if it blocks the birth canal, should this be the case your doctor may recommend a caesarean section
