Dealing with the symptoms
I have Fibromyalaia and Myomalagia(muscle weakness). I just want to go over how I deal with it. Things you can do for the pain and soreness, diets to use, and so forth. I have had it for 15 yrs. Every muscle in my body feels affected. I know how you feel sometimes with depression.
You will have not only muscle pain and soreness but insomnia as well.
I want to talk about pain pills and pain management. How Drs and other people see you.
How to get support, and where.
How church and God can help. You need the support of your family and friends.
Fibromyalgia is muscle pain and stiffness and soreness all over. These symptoms are accompanied by fatigability. They don't know the cause of it yet, over 3 million people suffer with it.
Having fibromyallgia is not easy. Its hard to plan anything, because you dont know how you are going to feel from day to day.It is not good to plan something for an all day trip unless you can rest for a while during it. When I over due it one day I pay for it in the next 2 to 3 days. I have to do my shopping in one day, clothes on another, so on and so forth. You learn not to over due. Sometimes I can get up and feel great and go all day with no reprecussions, I LIVE FOR THOSE DAYS!!
I can't describe the fatigue I have. It is unbeleivable, how tired and weak I get.

It is the purpose of our presence on the World Wide Web to disseminate information that is accurate and beneficial in improving the quality of life for those suffering from fibromyalgia. We no longer have to live with practitioners or care givers that do not believe this to be a real entity because its existence is recognized throughout the world medical community. Fibromyalgia is due respect.
Irritable bowel, migraine headache, interstitial cystitis, and chronic fatigue are also emerging as specific disease entities with common links to fibromyalgia that can aid not only in diagnosis but also intreatment.
Being treated by credible individuals, using appropriate therapies and maintaining high levels of ethical accountability. This does not deny the consideration of alternative therapy. Treatments of promise will be presented when there is clear utility for individuals suffering from any of these Fibro Five diseases.
The Fibro Five
The "Fibro Five" is a term referring to:
Fibromyalgia
Interstitial Cystitis
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Migraine Headache
Irritable Bowel
Physicians commonly look for a disease process that is presented by symptoms. In the case of the Fibro 5, pain is the symptom. Pain is experienced in muscle groups described as "tender points" and sometimes in joints. These symptoms were actively reported in the mid 1800's and have been termed numerous syndromes such as myositis, myofascial pain syndrome, fibromyositis.

harder in the winter
The cold weather makes it worse, and the days spent inside from bad weather, worsens the depression. Around the holidays my Dr. ups my depression meds. I find if I do a lot of stretching exercise in the mornings, especially in the winter that it helps. GO to the tanning beds it helps to get out and get some of the light therapy. REMEMBER to exercise.
attitude is half the battle, don't let it stop you from doing the things that help you control your fibromyalgia. You know cold effects it prepare for it. You know exercise helps, do it!

The embarassment.
I don't know how you feel, but I feel very embarassed about my pain and limitations. I have problems going places with the irritable bowel syndrome.
I feel very tired and can't stay awake. I can't walk real fast or real good. I don't let it stop me!. But it can be very embarassing. They look at me and say, she is the oldest young person I know. It has affected my heart, and I am on several meds. for that. I am on disability, that is another embarassment to me. I don't know why, I don't need to be, but I am sometimes.
You have to go prepared for anything that might happen. If you think you are going to get fatigued, don"t drive. Hitch a ride with someone else. Take some coffee if that helps. I always have to carry perscription lomotil with me in case my colon starts acting up.

The pain and the soreness.
Learn your limits and don't go over them. Learn a different way of doing things that make the pain less for you. You will learn this as you go along.
Getting support
Your family and close friends need to understand the disease more, and they need to help you. I have learned I can't go grocery shopping and carry it into the house and put it away. I have learned to schedule my shopping around people. I do my shopping when I know that someone will be there when I get home to help me.
I love my church family too. I love GOD, I lean on him a lot. there are support groups around. I think you can do a search on your city or talk to your Dr. Im sure the Dr. or the office can find you one.
Its hard but keep your head up and keep going. I live for the good days when I can move and get around a little better.
