Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, and Me

I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Here's the short history version:

High school = minor sports injury. Next several years, no doctor could figure out why I was having bad pains and such cold sensations in my left leg. 8 years after injury, went to a chiropractor that fixed my leg, but ended up with a bad lower lumbar. 2 years after that, came down with 2 illnesses (mono and strep throat) at the same time, both of which I haven't had before or since.

Now for the lens:

As I learn more about these two conditions, I would like to share the information with others who currently have, or will have, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Millions of men and women suffer from these two illnesses. There is no known cure. However, there are many ways to ease the aches, pains, fatigue, etc ... especially through natural ways of diet and exercise. What makes it harder for us and for doctors is that no two people suffer from these two illnesses in the same way. This makes it very hard to create an 'all-in-one' drug.

Fibromyalgia Symptoms 

Many of these apply to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome also.

Tender point sensitivity (11 of 18 points), as well as a history of widespread chronic body pain for at least 3 months, provides the most definitive diagnosis at this time.

Additional symptoms commonly reported:

* Flu-like pain that can be severe and constant
* A constant feeling of exhaustion
* Specific tender points that hurt
* Overall body aches
* Depression
* Muscle stiffness and pain
* Insomnia or other sleep disorders
* Extreme fatigue
* Depression not caused by a trauma or event, but by chronic discomfort
* Cognitive problems, often called "brain fog"
* Reoccurring headaches
* Multiple reoccurring infections
* Irritable bowel syndrome

    Presently, my son had the same symptoms when he injured his leg during a basketball game in our neighborhood. I was alarmed when one day when he step down from our car, he just slumped on the concrete & I'm very worried. This is the first time I've heard of this term "Fibromyalgia" and it's possible he has this one. Thanks for the info. I'll inquire our family doctor about it! Do drop by this site that offers cheap but attractive personalized checks. Last month, I bought my own personalized accounting checks and guess what? They gave me 50% for it!
