Fibromyalgia Checklist with Options for Relief
Fibromyalgia Checklist from the View of a Loved One
Fibromyalgia Checklist - How Many Symptoms Are There?I have included a Fibromyalgia checklist which here may not include all the symptoms that you may be looking for. My wife has had Fibromyalgia for 8 years so I have become a little bit of an expert on what she has gone through second hand. I can't tell how bad the pain is but I sure can tell you what she goes through, day in and day out.
In the past you were told it is all in your head there is nothing wrong with you. Your friends and family thought you were crazy, as well as physicians, may doubt the reality of your complaints, increasing your feelings of isolation, guilt, and anger.
People with fibromyalgia are often told that since they look well and their tests are normal, they are not suffering from a real disorder.
You and your family should understand that fibromyalgia is definitely associated with chronic pain and fatigue and must be dealt with as with any chronic illness. Yet, fibromyalgia is not life-threatening and causes no deformity. Although symptoms may vary, the overall condition rarely worsens over time.
Fibromyalgia checklist of symptoms
Here is the technical stuff:
Whether you have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia or suffer from its symptoms, or have a family member or friend with the disorder, this section will provide you with a better understanding of this disorder that affects millions of people worldwide.Fibromyalgia (pronounced fy-bro-my-AL-ja) is a common and very complex chronic pain disorder which affects people physically, mentally and socially. Fibromyalgia is said to be a syndrome rather than a disease.
A Fibromyalgia checklist is:
chronic widespread pain
multiple tender points
abnormal pain processing
sleep disorders
chronic fatigue
restless leg syndrome
often psychological distress
joint pain
fatigue and loss of energy
headaches
nervousness
insomnia
muscle weakness
numbness and tingling
pressure in jaw
depression
mood changes including Aggressive Behavior
skin problems
dry eyes
morning stiffness
breathing problems
fear or anxiety
vision problems
dizziness and balance issues
sensitive to bright light
sensitive to noise
memory loss, mental confusion or reduced coordination
irritable bowel syndrome
"side-effects" of your medications like weight gain from unhealthy dieting
Weight gain from lack of activity
Everyone is different so most likely you will not have all the symptoms and you may not have the same ones as someone else does.
Managing Fibromyalgia for now
Exercise and therapy
"There is a way" to find some Relief for some of your symptoms. The principles of treating fibromyalgia for you is to do exercises and to stretch and mobilize tight, sore muscles.
You may not want to exercise if you are already in pain and feel tired. Low-impact aerobic exercises such as brisk walking, biking, and swimming or water aerobics are excellent for you. Exercising on a regular basis, such as every other day, and gradually increase to reach a better level of comfort. Some people can greatly reduce their symptoms with exercise.
Gently stretch your muscles and move your joints through a range of motion daily and before and after aerobic exercise. Physical therapy may be helpful and could include a checklist such as: heat, ice, massage, whirlpool, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation to help control pain. Physical therapists may design a specific exercise program to improve posture, flexibility, and fitness.
Hope this Fibromyalgia Checklist will help you.
Remember with Fibromyalgia everyone's body is different and may have different symptoms. So what might be right for one may not be right for someone else. Some people have over come Fibromyalgia.

One Painstaking Story of Fibromyalgia "On Drugs"
All the Medicine we used, is it really good for you?
One day, several years ago when my wife was taking about 8 to 10 different drugs to control her symptoms. She took her normal doses and still was having problems going to sleep. I went to bed as normal while she was trying to deal with her daily problems of Fibromyalgia. When you have a loved one with Fibromyalgia, your life also changes. So I routinely wake up every few hours and check on her. This one paticular night, I walked through the house turning off lights and the TV as usual. I turned off the outside front porch light to our 1st floor, in town apartment. Went through the living room and onto the kitchen and back to the bedroom.
Then I looked at our bed and she was not there and thinking about it, I could not remember seeing her through the house. So I went back to the living room and she was not on the couch. I checked all the rooms and she was nowhere to be found.
I started to get a little worried and thought where could she be. Then I remembered turning off the front porch light. So I went out front and sure enough there she was and she had fallen asleep on our porch swing.
Well this wouldn't have been a problem, it was a nice night, but we lived in the middle of town and it was 2:00 in the morning. The local bars were shutting down. Well because of side effects of some of the medicine she gained alot of weight and one of her meds would really knock her out cold.
Well some times I was able to get her up and other times I had to leave her where I found her. I was not going to leave her out there at that hour of the night. I could not wake her up and I could not pick her up. So I ended grabbing her by the wrist and dragged her into the house. Then I covered her up and left her lay on the floor right inside the door.
I have hurt my back in the past trying to move her. I love my wife dearly and we have been married for about 27 years now. Because of stories like these we asked ourselves if "There is a way" to solve some of these problems without drugs or part of them.
