Is Fibromyalgia Pain All In A Sufferer's Head?
There's a divide between those who suffer from fibromyalgia pain and those who don't although with more publicity, more non sufferers are starting to understand that fibromyalgia is not just a figment of a sufferer's imagination.
One of the biggest problems associated with fibromyalgia is a reduced quality of life for the sufferer yet there are things one can do to decrease the incidence of pain and enjoy a better quality of life.
When we say an invisible disease, fibromyalgia is not secondary to another disease where there is visible evidence that it exists. It's described as a chronic pain disorder where widespread pain affects several parts of the body.
That's the problem. Did you ever stop to think that you really cannot see pain. It's not a visual thing but a sense that is felt. Sure, if someone suffers a physical injury they are going to be in pain but apart from the visual injury, can you actually see the pain?
No, pain is not all in a fibromyalgia sufferer's head; it's real and until a cure is found then the closest thing people can get to relief is fibromyalgia pain treatment.

Fibromyalgia Treatment - Is There A Cure For Fibromyalgia?
Looking For The "Miracle Cure" For Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia treatment will involve a variety of forms from exercise to medication. The reality is, there is no cure yet for Fibromyalgia. Another aspect which is a little confusing is it isn't usually diagnosed until most other avenues have been explored.
Conditions such as chronic fatigue and thyroid issues will be considered as possible reasons why a person is experiencing symptoms.
When the four major symptoms of fibromyalgia, that is:
- diffused musculoskeletal pain
- unrested sleep
- muscle stiffness and
- fatigue
have been present for some time or widespread pain which is present for at least three months, then fibromyalgia will be considered as a diagnosis.
The key to effective fibromyalgia treatment is using a combination of methods.
For example, exercise, medication, relaxation techniques and physical therapy could all form part of your treatment program.
How often would you need to maintain this? Well, the fact is, there is no cure for fibromylagia so you should be taking a long term treatment approach.
One of the confusing aspects with fibro symptoms is some days a sufferer can be feeling full of life and energy but the next they are debilitated by pain and fatigue.
On the other hand, there is a pattern which can emerge and there will be certain times of the day when you're feeling better and this is when you need to take advantage of the situation by getting things done.
Low impact exercise is crucial. Things such as stretching, walking and swimming are three you can do. It may be difficult at first but the more you do it the easier it becomes and will help reduce the incidence of symptoms.
Fibromyalgia treatment can also include doctor prescribed sleep medication but resist this and simply try and get to sleep at the same time each night and wake up at the same time each morning. You definitely want to avoid coffee and alcohol as this can interrupt your sleep patterns.
Relaxation techniques combined with physical therapy can be extremely helpful.
The important thing to remember with fibromyalgia treatment is to be consistent with it. For example, exercise shouldn't be done sporadically but at a set time each day.

How To Adjust Your Daily Schedule To Fight Fibromyalgia Pain
Sometimes to manage fibromyalgia pain you need to manage your day-to-day routine. In other words, you should have an idea what time of the day pain is at it's worst and what time of the day you feel good and can move about freely.
This is part of squeezing as much quality from your life on a daily basis and working around the times when you simply cannot or don't feel like getting around.
Fibromyalgia relief is an ongoing process. Whether you're taking medication or doing stretching exercise the ultimate aim is to relieve pain.
So with this in mind, we're going to give you some fibromyalgia relief tips which can either be adopted or re-arranged to suit your own needs.
These won't cure fibromyalgia, only to help you get through a day with the minimum of fuss.
1. Organization is gold when it comes to a fibro sufferer. For example, organizing your grooming stuff in order, clothing, kitchen utensils or simply making a list of the things you need done on a daily basis can make a big difference.
2. In regards to making a list, when you think of something that needs to be attended to at a later time just write it down. Have a small notebook or pad handy because sometimes remembering what needs to be attended to can prove a real challenge in a fibromyalgia sufferer's day.
3. When shopping needs to be done, don't attempt it when you feel lousy. Work out what time of the day pain or muscle stiffness seems to be less of a nuisance and use this time to get things like shopping done. This is one of the more sensible fibromyalgia relief tips you'll hear and you will be amazed how this simple tactic can help your productivity levels.
4. If you simply don't want to get out and do the shopping, consider shopping online. It's delivered to your door and convenient.
5. Routine is important for fibromyalgia sufferers. If you can establish a good routine of when you rest during the day and when you attend to chores you will be much better prepared to manage any pain.
6. Be consistent with exercise. Maintain a good schedule because stretching exercise is important in keeping the stiffness out of your muscles.
7. If you love gardening and find it becomes difficult at times to maintain a good grip on your gardening chores then consider a low maintenance yard. Things such as automatic sprinklers are ideal and hiring outside help is not expensive today and another alternative to consider.
These fibromyalgia relief tips are pretty straightforward but don't ignore them. They can really help you add some extra quality to your life.
Fibromyalgia Exercise - How Exercise Can Help Fibro Patients Manage Pain
How To Treat Fibromyalgia Pain With Exercise
Medications can be a little limited for long term relief although they are useful with proper medical advice but for long term relief, then you need to consider good strategy.
Fibromyalgia exercise has long been regarded as helpful when used as an overall management strategy but is only going to be worthwhile if you're willing to maintain a long term commitment.
There is no cure yet for fibromyalgia but there is plenty of pain management advice available.
Exercise will usually be thrown into the mix and in this article, we want to highlight some fibromyalgia exercise tips which could become part of your regular fibro pain management routine.
Fibromyalgia Exercise
First thing you need to do is sit down with your doctor and work out an exercise schedule you're comfortable with and won't add to your stress.
Secondly, you need to make a commitment because without it, then you'll become hapzard in your routine eventually declaring it's all too hard.
So what are we talking about when we suggest fibromyalgia exercise. Well, the exercise suited to fibro sufferers revolves around plenty of stretching.
For example, stretching helps to increase a person's motion range and vitality. By training your muscles to stretch to a certain point will help combat one of the major symptoms of fibromyalgia in muscle stiffness.
Once you have completed your initial stretching routine, then you should consider, with the blessing of your doctor, moving onto exercises which are designed to work the muscle which in turn will not only strengthen, but also help to further increase your motion range.
Once this has been completed, then you need to consider proper rest. And by proper rest, this doesn't mean five minutes on the couch. Your rest needs to be complete and restive.
Combining a good exercise program with other pain management techniques including ultrasound and pressure point therapy, could also be explored.
You also want to consider learning proper posture and ergonomics. It doesn't matter whether you sit or stand, proper posture helps to alleviate trauma to the muscles which can only lead to things such as better sleep.
And dealing with and managing fibromyalgia symptoms so you can lead a better quality of life is the bottom line.
Fibromyalgia Symptoms - A Look At Four Major Fibromyalgia Symptoms
Symptoms Of Fibromyalgia Which Can Severely Affect A Person's Lifestyle
There are four main symptoms which categorize fibromyalgia. The following are simply a guide but we'll also list associated symptoms.- Muscle pain is one of the more recognizable symptoms of fibromyalgia. To take it a step further, it's not just pain but what has been described as chronic, diffused musculoskeletal pain.
- Fatigue is one of the four main fibromyalgia symptoms which plagues sufferers. Fatigue is not so much a hindrance because of pain but it's the disruption in lifestyle it can cause.
- Sleep or bad sleep is in the top four. It's better known as non-rejuvenating sleep meaning a person can go to bed and seemingly get the required amount of rest but when they awake, they feel more tired than when they first bedded down.
- The fourth main symptom relates to muscles but not in a painful way. It's more muscle stiffness and can affect a fibro sufferer in short bursts but several times during the day.
There are other symptoms which come into play as a result of the above. These include headaches, depression and anxiety.
Depression is a particular problem simply because it can drive a fibromyalgia sufferer deeper into their shell. In other words, it can portray a feeling of hopelessness which is difficult to overcome.
This is where quality of life can be seriously affected. Can you blame someone battling fibromyalgia symptoms wanting to simply stay in their own little patch and suffer in silence?
No you can't but if you live with someone experiencing the symptoms then you need to be careful not to encourage withdrawal from what are deemed as normal daily activities.
This is such an important aspect of making life as comfortable as possible for fibromyalgia sufferers it cannot be understated.
Let's be honest, people in general are a suspicious lot and when something like fibromyalgia confronts them yet they cannot see any physical proof that something is wrong, then the doubt alarms go off.
In a sense, it's like someone complaining of stress and using it as a reason to take time off from work. But when there are thousands and thousands of people complaining about the same symptoms then it is no longer just a co-incidence.
A drop in quality of life is not a decision the majority of people would make voluntarily. The effect of fibromyalgia symptoms is very real and doesn't just affect those with fibromyalgia but also those immediately around them.
Fibromyalgia Pain Treatment - Tips To Manage Fibromyalgia Pain
How To Improve Your Quality Of Life As A Fibromyalgia Sufferer
Seeking Fibromyalgia pain treatment requires a little understanding of what symptoms are associated with this syndrome. There are four major symptoms which can affect every corner of a person's body.In this article, we'll take a look at these symptoms and then look at some proven methods for effective Fibromyalgia pain treatment. We won't be talking medications simply because this is an area you to discuss with your doctor.
Really, there is not a lot of approved medications relating to Fibromyalgia at this time and many suggested relief options are more a stop gap measure than anything else and shouldn't be used for prolonged periods of time.
Here's a look at the four symptoms usually associated with Fibromyalgia:
- Muscle pain or chronic diffused musculoskeletal pain.
- Disruptive sleep patterns or in other words, sleep which is non restful. Many Fibromyalgia sufferers report waking up and feeling more tired than when they went to bed even despite ample sleep.
- Fatigue is a strong indication and one of the main symptoms associated with Fibromyalgia. Fatigue is particularly disruptive to a person's quality of life.
- Muscle stiffness which can occur in short bursts but can also continue in this manner throughout a person's day.
What Is Fibromyalgia?
Firstly, let's take a look at what Fibromyalgia is. Well, it's considered a syndrome simply because of the involvement of a group of signals and signs which occur together. It is not considered secondary to anything else and this is where people need to make the distinction.
Simply having localized pain in your tendons or muscles doesn't mean you have Fibromyalgia. When pain is localized it can be secondary to ailments such as arthritis or over and underuse of the area in question. Generalized Fibromyalgia involves a group of pain signals that affect a person and occur at the same time.
Managing Fibromyalgia Pain
The management of pain for Fibromyalgia sufferers is imprortant to maintain quality of life. Without a good management system in place then areas such as family life, work and social time can be seriously impacted.
Fibromyalgia pain treatment starts with making a commitment to staying with it for the long term. It's easy to be lulled into a false sense of security by thinking you can simply stay with medication but as a long term process, it's probably not a good idea.
Combining exercise and therapy with medication makes more sense. If you're intending on going down the medication route then please speak with your doctor.
Consider These Treatment Options
A combination of the following can prove beneficial in managing Fibromyalgia pain:
- exercise
- therapy
- pressure point therapy
- chiropractic
Exercise is vital as part of your Fibromyalgia pain treatment program. Stretching and working the muscle to both strengthen and increase the motion range of your muscles combined with a sensible rest routine is a good first step to managing pain.
Therapy includes ultrasound and stimulation therapy in combination with massage and accupressure are usually effective in relaxing the muscle. It's also good in increasing flexibility.
Also consider pressure point therapy for relief from pain associated with active trigger points.
Chiropractic care is another option worth pursuing when considering Fibromyalgia pain treatment as it relates to areas including maintaining good posture.
Fibromyalgia Relief Tips - How To Ease A Fibromyalgia Sufferer's Pain
3 Ways To Help Fibromyalgia Sufferers Cope
Do you suffer from fibromyalgia? If so, then many of you would be at your wits end adjusting to what is deemed normal day-to-day living.Simple activities such as a handshake can reduce a fibromyalgia sufferer to tears however, you wouldn't know because most simply don't want to show signs of being in pain.
So what's the purpose of this report? Basically to make people who know little to nothing about fibromyalgia, aware that it is real and people who have it are experiencing real pain.
What Is Fibromyalgia?
Firstly, a brief description about what fibromyalgia is and how it affects a sufferer's quality of life.
Fibromyalgia is regarded as a syndrome involving a group of signals and signs which occur together. The breakdown of the word fibro-my-algia is interesting and self-describing. It's Latin and is broken down into three syllables.
- Fibro stands for fibrous or soft tissues which are located in or around the body's joints and tendons.
- My or myo refers to muscle.
- Algia stands for pain, a common symptom of fibromyalgia. It relates to pain in those tissues known as support tissues including those areas around a persons shoulders as well as the knees.
Finally, it's important not to confuse localized pain in areas such as the tendons or muscles as meaning someone has fibromyalgia. This type of localized pain is usually secondary to something else such as disease or even misuse of that particular area.
How To Reduce Stress For A Fibromyalgia Sufferer
Let's take a look at 3 ways you can assist a fibromyalgia sufferer:
- First of all, learn as much about the condition as you can. This is particularly important if you live with someone who has fibromyalgia. By understanding what it is and what it does, you'll help the sufferer simply by understanding. That is a big plus.
- Please don't poke fun at someone who has fibromyalgia. By this we mean telling them they're imagining it all and they should snap out of it and get on with their lives. This gets back to learning what fibromyalgia is.
- Again, if you live with a fibromyalgia sufferer then be aware that sleep problems can be an enormous issue. When someone suffering from the condition manages to fall asleep and appears to be resting comfortably, do your bit by being quiet and letting them get the sleepful rest that's often hard to come by.

when you are the one with this disease, & your symptoms are flaring at their worst and spiraling out of control, then let's hear you NOT beg for drugs - solar stories!! I have begged many times not only for medications but drugs - any kind of drugs to stop the pain - hell I even beg for a bullet to bite - anything to stop the pain - or even dull it a bit... the point is there is no relief - even in your sleep you hurt and can't get rested. There is no life when you can't go from the bed to the living room without falling down and passing out cuz the pain is sooooo great - it overwhelms my life... Solar stories - when you get to the point that you realize that breathing is not living and that even that breath (every breath) causes such pain - THEN we will see just how you handle it... In cancer or other patients that are termanally ill, they are kept comfortable till they die... with fibro, there is no dying - you just wish you would die - beg to die - and you do this every minute.

I have watched my best friend suffer with this for some 20 years. She was told she was imagining things and she didn't have anything wrong with her. The Depression she suffered with as a result of the doctors uncaring attitude has been terrible and destrotyed her life for many years. Now she knows she isn't crazy and has gotten so much better over the last few years that it's like she a whole different person. Great lens and kep up the good work 5 stars

Just the mane sounds pretty awful, but from the sound if it, some people see sufferers as just shirking? As the lens writer says, the effects are so damaging on the quality of life of the sufferer that it is a bit strange that anyone would see it as some sort of an easy option to complain of it, and how would you make up the symptons anyway?
