Ficus Bonsai

"Conventional bonsai trees require sun, wind, and rain to develop and grow healthy. This specimen, however, is a miniature version of tropical Banyan tree, whose native climate corresponds closely with the climate inside most homes and offices. Exotic and artful, this rewarding tree can be kept indoors year round. Potted in a glazed ceramic bonsai pot. Ficus bonsai stands approximately 12".

I have a serious problem with my ficus bonsai. i'm struggling to keep it alive.
the peace in the home that grew under it, does'nt grow anymore and also the leaves of my poor ficus are turning brown.
currently what i'm doing is giving it water once a week and i never put it in direct sunlight, but it does get a bit of fresh air from time to time.
am i doing something wrong or whats happening?
