Break out your old violin and brush up on some carols and you'll be invited to more Christmas parties than you can shake a stick at...a fiddlestick that is!
Everyone Loves a Violin at Christmas
My father told me of an old gentleman who used to come to Midnight Mass at Saint Catherine of Siena Church in Jamaica, NY on Christmas Eve two hours early. He knew that the congregation would be arriving early, and he wanted to be ready. When the first members of the congregation arrived he was ready. He had memorized the Christmas Carols that the people knew and loved, and began to play them as the first people arrived. People would trickle in, and listen as he played. Sooner or later someone would start to sing along quietly...just three or four people and a solo violin. By the time it was time for Mass, the entire congregation was singing--accompanying the King of Strings as they celebrated the birth of the King of Kings. What Will Your Fiddle Be Playing This Christmas Season?

What's Your Favorite Carol to Play on Your Violin?
As with the gentleman I discussed at the top of this page, we all have favorite Christmas Carols. It may be something as simple as Jingle Bells. It may be a four-octave version of Oh Holy Night. If you could only play one Christmas Carol this year what would it be?
Merry Christmas
