Fifi and the Flowertots is a British children's TV series which first began airing in 2005. Fifi grows an organic garden and loves nothing more than cooking and gardening! Her best friend is Bumble the Bee (known as Fuzzbuzz in the USA and Canada), who helps Fifi when she forgets her words.

This educational show is great for teaching kids about the environment, and is aimed primarily at girls aged 2-7. There are lots of themes you can incorporate into a Fifi and the Flowertots birthday party - flowers, gardening, organic food, baking, bees, and nature!

Fifi Forgets!

One of the key elements of the Fifi show is her forgetfulness! You could make up some clues and ask what word Fifi has forgotten. For example:

Fifi is baking a sponge cake, can you help with the ingredients? She needs eggs, flour, butter, and for the jam she needs... oh fiddly flower petals, what are those red fruits called?
(Strawberries!)

Fifi is having a tea party! Can she pour you a cup of... oh fiddly flower petals, what is that drink called?
(Tea!)

The winner is the player with the most correct answers!

Fifi Snap or Fifi Matching Pairs

If you have a printer at home you can make up some Fifi cards! Print out two of the same picture of each character onto plain card and cut them out. Then you can either run a game of snap, or play matching pairs where the cards go face down and two cards get picked - players have to remember where cards are to match the pairs!

Fifi Musical Flowers

This is basically musical chairs, but players have to sit on a paper flower instead!

Who Am I?

Everyone sits in a circle and gets a Fifi character card stuck on their forehead - don't let them see who it is!

Each player takes it in turn to ask a yes/no question about who they might be - for example: Am I female? Am I yellow? Do I have blue hair? Do I buzz? Do I forget things?

Keep going until everyone has guessed! If anyone gets stuck near the end, give them a choice of remaining characters!

If you can't find pictures of characters for the cards, you could just write their names on a piece of card.

What the Heck is a Piñata?
Originating in China and Mexico, the piñata is usually made of cardboard or papier-mâché, decorated colorfully to match the birthday party theme and filled with confetti, candy or chocolates, and small toys. Long colored strings are attached to the bottom, which conceals a trap-door. Near the end of the party (traditionally after the cutting of the cake), the piñata will be 'broken'. Children get an empty party bag and gather under the piñata. Each child holds one of the dangling strings. One the count of three, the children pull their strings, which opens the trap-door and breaks the piñata. The children are showered in treats and confetti, which they can then fill their party bags with! An alternative, more recent custom in America is for the children to hit the piñata with bats until it breaks!

Remember, Fifi grows an organic garden, so if possible use organic food and ingredients! Fifi's principles are a great excuse to include lots of healthy food like fruit, as well as the usual cake, jelly and ice-cream!

Get your daughter helping with the pre-party baking if she is old enough! Or, if it is only a small party with a few responsible guests, you could help them to all bake something easy like chocolate cornflake cakes. It might be a good idea to enlist some help from family or other mums though, so that everyone stays safe. Don't forget the aprons!
