Fifty Years of Accomplishments
I loved turning 50 years old this year. My mother-in-law is another person who gets excited about age, when she turned 75 years old, three quarters of a century old, we laughed like two little girls it was very exciting.
In a way, I suppose this lens can be my own personal 50th Celebration of sharing many of my own thoughts with you. So come on and join me for a celebration because you are all invited. So lets get this lens started, shall we?

My OLDIES but GOODIES favorite songs!!
Well, how do I make this lens about 50's?
I turned 50 years old in January. A half of a century old. I can remember going into a store and getting a little brown bag full of penny candy!I can remember my step-father searching in the car seats for coins to put gas into his car. That was back when gas was; are you READY for this $0.24 a gallon.
I can remember playing outside at night in Baltimore with relatives; feeling safe and it being okay to get frozen coffee from an old man down the street who did this for children as treats?
I remember listening to 45 records, to songs such as "Build Me Up Buttercup Baby" and hit songs by the "Monkeys" and playing "Cherry Hill Park" a million and one times.
I remember looking out my step-fathers car windows when we were driving down the road and seeing all of the "Flower Power", "Peace Signs", and "Love" written everywhere!
I remember watching Bonnie and Clyde for the first time and my step-father playing the 33 record of the movie all of the time.
I remember a day when living in a community and feeling safe, and there always seemed to be help when you needed it.
I remember when Halloween was a big event, and Christmas was everything in a child's heart.
Well, needless to say, I could probably come up with 50 things easily that I remember in my 50 years of life, but I would much rather focus in on other things.
This Hippi Girl refuses to give up long skirts, listening to 60's music, the peace sign and the dream of wanting to go Woodstock and to this day she still dreams what it would have been like to attend Woodstock If you get a chance, check 1960's Music

Okay, so we have to at least mention the 70's! I mean really, even if you do not want to admit to it, there was something about the Disco period and doing the hustle-just made you feel Bad (and the slang meaning REALLY COOL, GROOVY)

50th Year Anniversary
Well, inquiring minds wants to know....
Most of us have events that reach a landmark in our lives
I can remember a horrible world event that happened on my 25th birthday, that is when the Challenger blew up. Such a very sad day for me and one that I will always remember about my 25th birthday.
When I turned fifty, I was given a special ring and felt a turning point in my life.
So share an event in your life, 25 years, 50 years, 75 years......
What is an event that happened on one of your birthday's, that you will always remember?

This is what happened when I turned....

Momsbusy247 says:
When I turned Family most of my family and friends all met up in Las Vegas and we had one heck of a party!!! Dancing girls, Blue Man Group, Cirque Du Soleil, gambling and drinking (tomato juice and other old people's drinks ). I will always remember that birthday!
Nothing happened on my birthday but I do remember when....
CruiseReady says:
I remember the day Kennedy was shot, and when we landed on the moon, and Challenger was lost, and ... oh, my, I am getting up there!
nightbear says:
I remember when John F Kennedy was murdered. It was so shocking I couldn't drag myself away from the television. It was so Unreal. I just knew it was a hoax. I was very young. But it really impacted me.
Take a look how much music has changed....

- Well, will you just look at that last comment -- me??? So, I am just sitting here waiting for the root canal deadening treatment to wear off -- oh, it is CLOSE -- and thinking that one of my sister's is hitting the 50 milestone for herself on Feb 1st. I'll have to see how she is feeling about it all. After all, she is really like an old soul. Hugs.

- Gosh, it is amazing to think of 50 -- I remember not so long ago that 30 seemed old, then I adjusted that to think not so old, but 40 was the new old! Today, I'm thinking 90 is OLD! ;)
