Did you know how much these innocent girls get for one night?? 3 dollars only!!!! Imagine what your purchase of a 10 dollar necklace would do to the lives of these girls. Most of them are orphans and they either do this to support there siblings or because they are forced by there step mothers, or because there HIV infected mothers cannot work, who happen to be widows.
The chain is long and i cannot do much but to ask you to change the lives of these Orphans and women by buying there green products.
Consider your purchase and search your heart before you buy that chinese sandal, Thank you.

The whole world needs you and me.

Make that choice and join hands with millions on the earth with the same burden

The millenium development goals were set and sighned by our leaders-189 Heads of State and government from the North and South put pen to paper to support what i am about to show you.
Ladies and gentle men this is what our leaders as our representatives sighned on.
Here, world leaders from rich and poor countries alike committed themselves--at the highest political level--to a set of eight time-bound targets that, when achieved, will end extreme poverty worldwide by 2015. Goals 1 through 7 commit them to raise the poor out of poverty and hunger, get every child into school, empower women, reduce child mortality, improve maternal health, combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases, and ensure environmental sustainability. Goal 8 explicitly recognizes that eradicating poverty worldwide can be achieved only through a global partnership for development. This global deal makes clear that it is the primary responsibility of poor countries to ensure greater accountability to citizens and efficient use of resources. But for poor countries to achieve the first seven goals, it is absolutely critical that wealthier countries deliver on their end of the bargain--more and more effective aid, more sustainable debt relief and fairer trade rules--well in advance of 2015.
After reading this, i dont know if your country is actually implementing this.
To begin with, My President has greatly emphasized that what adrica needs is industralisation, this strogly contrdicts with Goal 7: "ensure environmental sustainability "
Another thing is Poverty eradication, More and more slums are shoting up around our towns. Also contrary to: "Goals 1 through 7 commit them to raise the poor out of poverty and hunger, get every child into school, empower women, reduce child mortality, improve maternal health, combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases, and ensure environmental sustainability".
Sorry if you get me wrong but i commend my country and many others for the progress they have done but, the pace is soo slow. This is my point, the pace at which we are realising these goals is not helping anything. I would like you to take a step and fight for the realising of these goals.
Therefore join hands with POGRE`EDU initiative uganda and make the diffrence to many lives.
Millenium Development Goals
Through this link you will be able to understand what the millenium development goals are and realise some possible ways that you can use to realise these goals.
Take the trip, you will not regret it.
Lets make poverty history
Poverty is what i call a virus, its more deadly tha SARS because the spread is unbelievable. On this issue, no one knows what we can do to help those alredy infected by this disease.
Leaders who adopted the Millennium Development Goals in 2000 envisioned halving the proportion of people living without access to basic sanitation by the year 2015 - but we are nowhere near on pace to achieve that goal. Experts predict that by 2015, 2.1 billion people will still lack basic sanitation. At the present rate, sub-Saharan Africa will not reach the target until 2076.

If we take up the challenge, the positive impact will reverberate far beyond better access to clean water. Every dollar invested in water and sanitation yields an estimated seven dollars worth of productive activity. And that comes on top of the immeasurable gains in cutting poverty, improving health and raising living standards.
- Ban Ki-Moon, United Nations Secretary General

These were the words of UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon. One thing that strikes out for me is- "if we take up the challenge, the positive impact will reverberate far beyond better access" Friends its our onus to face the challenge and act in a manner worhty of making a diffrence in the lives of those that do not have a voice.
A sustainable enviroment
A greener enviroment is for the benefit of the entire world and for generations to come. May we all be controlled and governed by this fact. I hope that this realisation will be blent with you that even in the fibers of your flesh you may realise that every ddrop of carbon emmision you produce has effects on this world and will have- in generations to come.
The Greener the initiative the better and safer to the world
The main objectine of POGE`EDU is to suport widows and orphans in Uganda sell green products for the benefit of these in need and purposely to preserve the enviroment.
So its our intention to enable you get an opinion from others that are doinh the same thing.
We sincerly hope that you will be impresed with what we are doing. Enjoy the learning experience.

The Greener the safer the enviroment yet still for this good cause you can change the lives of Orphans and Widows through POGRE`

The world hangs on a thread, Make the diffrence.

Yes the whole world admits that Global warming is a reality and nearly all parts of the world are living in a world of uncertainty. This world that came into existance in all greenness than you can ever imagine and is now being inhabited by over 6 billion people who almost 2/3 dont realise what it means to be green is headed for a straight on colition with the wrath of mother nature. I believe that its too late to put the blame on any one at this time. I kindly request you to forget the blame and work with me and many others in controling and lengthening the time that is to come that is inevitable.
But as we fight for this cause lets not forget about those innocent victims of global warming. Remember the many lives that have been lost in caterstrophic natural disasters, the Tsunami in Asia, the floodings in South america that have torn apart livelihoods and split families for ever. Africa too has not been spared with floodings in soroti uganda destroying the way of life of soo many people, long droughts and famine in in malawi, Ethiopia, Angola, Somalia zimbabwe and northern uganda.
Recently we have seen torrential rains resulting in flooding. The deluge has affected 22 countries such as Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Togo and Ghana. It is estimated that 1.5 million people have been affected so far with hundreds losing their lives in one of Africa's biggest natural calamities in recent times. The incessant downpours across the east and west of Africa has destroyed vast settlements and caused heavy loss of crops and livestock. The people of these countries are mainly subsistence farmers who are heavily dependent on their crops and animals for survival. The situation is absolutely grim. Millions are suffering in miserable conditions. Thousands could die if help does not reach in time. I will give you another example.
For the case of mozambique poor rural households are particularly vulnerable to natural disasters such as drought and floods that beset the southern and central areas of Mozambique. In the wake of such events, since rural people have few income-generating alternatives to agriculture, they are immediately exposed to the threat of food insecurity. In 2002 about 66 per cent of poor farmers lost their crops to natural calamities.
My initiative is to go futher that fighting for a greener enviroment, but also to help those caught between the crossfire of mother natures defence against malicious individuals who care only about making profits than the future of the next generations that will live on this earth and also the livelihoods of those without a voice.I intend to help widows and orphans and even those in rural Africa find alternative means of generating income while at the same time fighting against global warming.
I wish to sell green products around the world with the help of those that share the same mind. Most of these women have been forced to leave there homes and settle in slums because of poor farming conditions, and even natures calamities caused by Global warming leaving them with no alternative. My friends, the impact of global warming is alredy being faced by many families around the world, its up to us to preach this gospel and enable Green initiatives be the solution for the problems.

As i explained ealier in the begining of this page, Your efforts do not only improve the lives of Vulnerable communities in Africa but also go futher to reduce the spread of HIV. Considering Mozambque as a case study: The prevalence of the HIV/AIDS virus in Mozambique is a further point of vulnerability for poor rural households, aggravating poverty and malnutrition levels. The number of people infected in the country is on the rise and is expected to increase and eventually stabilize in 2010, when an estimated 16 per cent of the population will be living with HIV/AIDS. The virus affects the most productive members of households and drains already meagre resources that are used mainly to pay for medical and other care. Social services and the health sector are struggling to deal with the magnitude of the situation.
I ask you to join hands with POGRE`EDU initiative Uganda in reaching out to those that have been innocently caught in the battle to save the world. Thank you.

What is your feeling about this cause?

Speak your heard and above all be sincere.

Whatever you feel that you need to tell me please feel free. if you want to criticise me i welcome it, if you want to encourage me, advice me and support me i welcome it all.
One thing i want to make clear: As you write, have in mind and thought who is embeded in this page- the orphans and widows that need you in all sincerity.
I welcome you all.

Lets empower women and orphans to eradicate poverty greenly

Are you willing to help the enviroment and Africa as a whole???

A Green and Poverty free world is for the benefit of the World

What do you feel about the matter?

In this world that we are living in, who will cause the change? Is it Obama or YOU? Brothers and sisters, the ones who will cause the change are those that feel the need for change. I strongly believe that our idealogy is the root to most problems in Africa and the world as a whole. Why should we sit and wait for the goverment to take its turtle steps coming to make the change. What griefs me soo much is for people who have a brain sitting down and waiting for heaven to open up and rain Change for them. Unless we change our thinking, i will tell you from my heart and with no regret" you will the same and never taste change, and those around you will appreciate change, if the enviroment is bad-Bad it will remain"
But i refuse to think like that, and so do those that i am preveleged to work with. Our change of mind is what will change our enviroment.
As i work with these orphans and widows and see the commitment in them to change there lives, my theory is justified each day. I will finish by saying that whatever you do: be championed with a desire to create and cause change. Its up to you to know what change you want.
But i will ask you kindly, consider changing the lives of these widows and Orphans in Uganda. Thank you.

Who do you think is a hero?

A hero may be defined in many ways- so what is your opinion about a hero?

Are you Young???

Do you know what you can do to archieve the Millenium Development Goals??

THE MDGs AND THE YOUNG PEOPLE.
See what POGRE`EDU is doing to realize the MDGs
Young people ages 15 to 24 make up 1.2 billion of the worlds human capital. Around the world, many of them are already making contributions to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and their work should be further acknowledged and strengthened. Building the capacity of and creating sustained partnerships with young people are crucial strategies to achieving the MDGs that have not been fully realized by the international community.
I believe young people can contribute to the achieving of the MDGs by the following means:
1. Successful modes of participation should be recognized and replicated, and also adapted to the challenging political and socio-economic realities facing many youth-led and youth-serving organizations.
2. There should be willingness among the public to cooperate with the youth in making there burdens and effort a reality. This requires our openness to working and sharing ideas with different youths around the world.
3. Networking among youth organizations with the same thinking should be encouraged and forums should be arranged to ensure that new ideas do not go for waste. Only when we stop thinking just within the scope of our borders will be able to bring everlasting change. We need the experiences of different youths around the world that we may make a global difference.
4. Another thing I strongly believe is that there need s to be action now. I always ask myself; "if not you the who?" we strongly have to realize that just sitting down and hoping that the situation will change does not help the situation any better. This is the time that you make the difference and strive for a better world through the realization of the MDGs.
My opinion on the way that we the youths in this world should do to tackle the eight MDGs is this:
%u2022 Goal 1, To Eradicate Extreme Poverty and Hunger:
I believe that there is a need for increased youth involvement in the eradication of poverty eradication strategies. There is a need to address youth poverty and rural development as well as youth in urban slums, and a need for youth vigilance in combating corruption. That's why POGRE`EDU is committed to try all efforts to eliminate poverty in slums especially among the orphans and the widows, we have to reach that point of realization that if we do not rise up now and do something about this, the situation will worsen by the day. I urge all the youths and all concerned parties to open there hearts to support initiatives that are trying there best in realizing the MDGs
Some of the options for action may include:
1. Governments must create mechanisms that ensure that young people are involved in the development of Poverty Reduction Strategies Papers and Country Assistance Strategies through Youth councils or other forms of youth representation.
2. Governments should include young people in the implementation of new projects identified in national development and poverty reduction plans and strategies as well as support existing youth-led development initiatives.
3. Governments must enact laws that foster the creation of community -driven projects with urban youth living in poverty, support current youth-led entrepreneurial l initiatives in urban communities, as well as UN-HABITAT'S work in slum development.

%u2022 Goal 2, To Achieve Universal Primary Education:
This involves things like encouraging school participation and engaging young people as peer educators and teachers. Also a review of curriculum development is undertaken. I strongly believe that education is key factor in changing the lives of youths living in slums more than anything. Vocational training and even formal education will dramatically change the lives of orphaned youths in slums. That's why education is key factor in POGRE`EDUs outreach initiatives.
Some of the options for action may include:
1. Governments should adopt and promote the concept `young people for young people' and encourage young people in schooling to undertake community-based initiatives that encourage school participation.
2. Make volunteer tutoring of primary school; par of the secondary school curriculum.
3. Projects where young people take initiative and to enhance education and teach other young people should be showcased and funding made available to replicate them in other communities.
4. Ensure that young people have the opportunity to contribute to their own curriculum through the creation of student school councils.

%u2022 Goal 3, To Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women:
This involves supporting young girls and women as well as empowering them to help themselves. We also target Gender equality in education and leadership development. POGRE`EDUs main targets include ensuring gender equality and empowerment of widows. Widows are neglected people in African societies and we cannot afford to not notice the hardship faced by widows living in slums living in hopelessness, most of these widows have los there husbands to HIV/AIDS and they too are living with the virus. The life of a widow in the slums of Kampala is heart breaking and it the main reason that POGRE`EDU came into being, we couldn't look away at the hardships faced by widows in the slums of Kampala. So together will all those that support us we find Green income generating activities to empower these women. The chain is long because as you empower these widows you directly help there children who happen to be orphans.
Some of the options for action may include:
1. Providing incentives and funding opportunities for NGOs and youth organizations to initiate non-formal education activities targeting girls and women. Where initiatives already exist, develop replication strategies and scale up existing initiatives.
2. Governments and civil societies in peaceful areas as well conflict zones should provide support, training and a project incubation services to help young women leaders evaluate the needs of their communities and develop successful projects.
3. Initiate young women into trainers programs in participation and leadership to enable young women to help their communities
%u2022 Goal 4, To Reduce Child Mortality:
This discusses the benefits of training young people to provide health-related services. Furthermore, the section stresses how youth advocacy and activism assist in providing vaccination s, clean water and sanitation to children at risk. It is in such a view that POGRE`EDU works with different organizations to support vaccination campaigns and provide awareness to orphans how might be living alone on the available services for them to access. We believe that we are the reaching arm to those that cannot access clean eater, life saving vaccinations, so together with other organizations we are working to providing these services to the more needy. We believe that with the lag repopulation of youths, the involvement of the youth in health-related activities will not benefit our countries but also the world
The options for action which arise are:
1. Establishing teen clinics and promote peer-to-peer education on sexual reproductive health, encouraging young people in the community to take a led role in design and needs assessment required for these programs.
2. Train unemployed youth in community-based health work, prenatal care, emergency obstetric care and family planning and expand these services in a strategic manner in developing countries.
3. Support the campaigns of youth in developing countries to make vaccination for infectious diseases available to all
4. Raise awareness among youth that access to safe water and sanitation is a public health issue, and enable youth in to address local public health problems.
%u2022 Goal 5, To Improve Maternal Health:
This highlights the need to educate young people about reproductive and sexual health, especially as it relates to reducing adolescent pregnancy. In addition, the role of the young people ion preventing harmful cultural practices is discussed. Research shows that most orphans arise as a result of losing their mothers during labor. What happens is shocking: most African cultures permit a man to directly marry another wife after the losing of the first, the children in this case are not catered for. Most of them end up staying with their grandparents who at times very old and they have to take care of their grand parents, when these grandees die then it's the beginning of being an orphan for most of these children. Others harshly affected are pregnant widows who are very poor to afford paying for proper maternal hospitals thereby taking the risk of conceiving at home, most of these hard decisions always prove to be fatal. And in many cases the children's are let orphans. It's POGRE`EDUs strongest desire that we will reduce maternal deaths by at least 5% in every 3 years.
Options for action include:
1. Promote reproductive and sexual health education in rural education in rural and urban areas through formal curricula and non-formal activities.
2. Encourage peer-to-peer education on sexual health and community -based condom distribution for the youth by the youth.
3. Fund the expansion of existing or establish new youth-led, non-formal community education to raise awareness about negative consequences of child marriage and adolescent pregnancies.
4. Provide opportunities forth e youth to speak about their culture, and encourage their voices to be part of community formation.
5. Support youth-led media and awareness campaigns about scientific implications on some practices.
6. Support the involvement of young men in preventing gender-based violence trough their participation and leader ship in training and awareness programs.
%u2022 Goal 6, To Combat HIV/AIDS Malaria and Other Diseases
There is a need for a thou rougher examination of the devastating effects of these
