I have my skin condition under control now but it took me a lot of time in order to figure out how things worked. I used to think that if I use abrasive methods then it would get rid of my acne more quickly. I was quite harsh with my cleaning methods and as a result my skin actually got worse. The whole situation led me to obsess over my problem until I'm pretty sure I lost proper perspective on my own acne. And my face was the only thing I could focus on it made life a lot more difficult. I also started to isolate myself because I felt extremely embarrassed whenever I went out into public where people could see my blemishes. Luckily, with the help of my dermatologist I was able to overhaul my approach to skin care and figure out how to get rid of acne in a way that worked for me.

I went from washing my face as much as I could from limiting myself to two times a day. I now watch once when I wake up in the morning, and then I will do it again right before I go to bed. My skin sometimes gets oily during the midday hours but that is where my handy toner comes into play. If I find that my oil production is becoming unmanageable then I will simply dab a bit of my toner on my face and everything is OK again. I will also take the time to moisturize my face with a gentle product if I see that dry skin is becoming a problem. You might think that dry skin is good for acne but it can actually prompt your skin to respond by creating more oil, thereby leading to more acne in the long run.

One thing that helped to heal my skin was making sure to take care of my body on the whole. Rather than just focusing on which new cream I could buy and apply to my face, I started to treat my body better. I found is that getting a lot of sleep that night really helped for my chosen acne medication to be effective in addition to allowing my skin cells to repair and rejuvenate. I noticed if I didn't get sleep than my stress levels would raise along with the likelihood that I would develop blemishes. I also made it a point to drink water on a daily basis even if I wasn't thirsty. This isn't always easy to do but I find it helps with my skin care routine and keeps my face nice and supple. It took me awhile to figure out the proper way to get rid of acne, but I am convinced the key is patience because each person may require different methods.
