You've Got to Backup Your Data.

Government sources say that 50% of companies whose data stream was interrupted for 10 days went bankrupt immediately. 93% of them were out of business within a year.

Loss of data can have severe repercussions for businesses. Not only is there the time involved in recreating files and the potential for permanent loss of data, but the loss of trust among clients can be very damaging to a business.

And yet many businesses don't bother to back up data. Don't be one of them.

Ways to Backup Your Data

If you have a very small amount of data, you can use an external drive. There are many choices here, but remember: it only works if you back up routinely, and it only really works if it's in a different place from your computer.

If you lose data because of a hardware problem, your jump drive with recently backed up files is great. if you lose data because of a flood, the jump drive floating around with your computer is no help.

If you have a medium amount of data, then a service like Mozy Remote backup can be just the thing. Mozy will back up your data routinely during down time.

If you have lots of data, you need software like File ReplicationPro is what you need. FRP will continuously and automatically backup your servers. With bit-level file encryption, FRP only copies what's new, so it uses fewer resources than a system that involves backing up all the data every day, and yet it's just as safe.
