The Distinct Style of Filipino Paintings

Note: The paintings shown here are original artworks of Filipino painter Bernardo Duldulao. These paintings are for sale. For inquiries contact the lensmaster.

Even in today's digital age, many Filipino painters still stay true to traditional Philippine art, depicting traditional countryside sceneries prominent during the Spanish colonial through post-Spanish colonial era artworks. Fernando Amorsolo, one of the Philippine's premiere national artists was one such artist, picking subjects that reflect the Filipino people's colorful everyday lives, recording history as they unfold, back dropped by scenic landscapes of farms and majestic countryside.

Showcased here are the artworks of Bernardo Duldulao who, under the tutelage of Fernando Amorsolo, focused on genre-themed crafts, mainly depicting Filipinos at work on farms and markets in the early days.

The Filipina and the Filipino Heritage

Here are brilliant samples of traditional genre paintings. Notice that central to these artworks is the Filipina gracing the scenes of everyday Filipino folk traditions.

Meet the Painter

Bernardo Duldulao, an alumnus of The University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts, has decades of wonderful experiences in paintings. His skills have been harnessed under the tutelage of no less than one of the great and most important national artists Fernando Amorsolo. Bernardo's artworks are characterized by swirling brushstrokes typical of a semi-impressionist style with brilliantly prominent warm tones and a touch of Amorsolo's legacy. Central to his paintings are the Filipino women depicted in traditional countryside sceneries which are displayed here.

I would love to hear from you
