Final Fantasy Legend II is the sequel to The Final Fantasy Legend. Well.."Sequel" isn't really the word. It's a completely alternate story, but it does have the same style and character types. The game is actually part of the Legend Series. of the SaGa franchise, but SaGa won't have its own name in the US for still a little while.

The Very Storyline
that made Final Fantasy Legend II great
When you were little your father woke you up to give you a special present before he had to leave town. Many years later you've decided to go off and find him, only to find out from your teacher that the item your father gave you was one of the 77 magi - sources of power that some people gather in hopes to become godlike. It comes to your understanding that tracking down these magi -with your 3 friends - should eventually lead you to your father.
How do you play such a legendary game?
Final Fantasy Legend may not be a real Final Fantasy title, but it definitely plays like one. With dungeons, turn based battles, a lot of walking and monster fighting, and the constant need to raise stats and get better equipment, this game feels like a Final Fantasy all the way.
What is...
Final Fantasy Legend 2 Character Classes
![]()
Humans:
These guys are quite able in close-range weapons, such as swords. Also their ability to grow in HP and strength is quite impressive. In this game, the humans raise their stats the same way the mutants do - via combat action. Actually, they raise their stats faster it seems.

Mutants:
Mutants are very good at magic and that is important as magic deals a lot of damage. However buying magic items is expensive, and using the naturally-learned magic is somewhat of a gamble as it can go away at any time. However they do raise stats via battle and they're generally very strong fighters.

Monsters:
The monster class is just as much of a lottery as it was before. Once again the only way to raise stats is to transform into a stronger monster by eating meat. However , meat can also turn you into a weaker monster so it's all about taking chances.
Robots:
This is the only class that was not present in the first game. These robots are useless in magic, but their attacks and defense are strong. Also the equipment doesn't need to be rebought when it runs out; it actually gets recharged by going to an inn. For raising their stats it's all about equipment.
Note: Certain equipments are stronger at some stats, but weaker at others so there may be times when you want to still keep your old weapon listed just for the extra stat points.
Ideal first-time party: Human, human, mutant, robot. Why? Humans raise their stats the fastest in this game, so they're always good to have. Mutants can use magic and are very good at it, they even just...learn them, however they don't raise stats quite as fast. A single robot is good to have for precarious situations has they are very strong if you remember to equip them well.
