"How to Find a Job I Love"

Have you ever been sitting at your desk and thought, "I really need to find a job I love"? Or, perhaps in these turbulent times you are recently out of work and considering a career change?

I have been through three completely different careers now since I graduated from college in 1998, and my search to find a job I love has led me to positions in S&P 500 companies, finance departments, sales departments, and I even tried to start my own company a few years ago. Below I'll give you some great tips on finding a career that motivates, satisfies, and makes you feel fulfilled.

How Did I Find a Job I Love?

Finding a Career That Matches Your Personality

Everyone knows that old saying - "different strokes for different folks." In finding a career it is absolutely true. Some people thrive on analyzing numbers, starting at spreadsheets, and writing financial reports. For others, it's the thrill of the chase - competing for sales and leads, and persuading other people about the benefits of a product or service. Others believe that their work should be meaningful and beneficial to society, and then there are those who cringe at the thought of sitting at a desk all day and need to be in a job that's active or outdoors.

In my case, I love sharing information and helping people find solutions to their problems. I started JobSearchPower.com to help people find their dream job as quickly and efficiently as possible. If you need help managing the online job search and application process, I urge you to register for my free course!

What Would You Do if You Had a Million Dollars?

(Find a Job I Love!)

There's a scene in the movie "Office Space" where Peter asks his coworker what he would do if he had a million dollars. (We'll ignore the response of his neighbor - this is a G-rated article!)

The point of that exercise is to take monetary need and questions of basic survival out of the equation, so you can focus on what you would do with your life if you could truly choose to do anything. Now, we live in the real world and money will always be a very real factor, so the question is not that helpful if you take it literally. However, it's still worth asking! What would you do if money was no object?

Travel the world?
Help those in need?
Start a new hobby?
Play a sport?

Think about how you really love to spend your time, and then decide if there are any careers that would get you closer to spending more of your time doing that.

Finding a Career That Matches Your Goals

Life is short - do what makes you happy

I'm not saying you have to revamp your life and quit your job today. But, if you are not completely happy doing what you are now doing, doesn't it make sense to look at some longer term goals to change that situation?

There are literally thousands of new jobs being posted online every day. If you haven't been looking because of the economy, I encourage you to see what's out there - in a lot of areas the job market is not as bad as the national news would have you believe.

If you know exactly what you want to do, then it's time to commit to changing your life and finding that perfect job. I truly believe my free course can help you manage that process more efficiently and effectively. Please stop by and register!
