How much time do you invest in keyword research before making a Squidoo lens or website? Are you relying on dumb luck in hopes of striking it lucky with the Google Gods? Many people do just that in hopes they will win the proverbial search engine lottery. Most people put little to no thought into profitable keywords and then throw their hands up in despair when they fail to make money.

I understand that some people like to write for the sake of writing and that is great if your writing is based on something you are passionate about, but if you are writing to make money online then its mandatory to do research to find profitable keywords in order to increase Google website traffic.

You may notice that I am focusing on Google website traffic but, it applies to all other search engines. Most search engines base their search results on Google therefore we will stick with that.

Taking the time to find profitable keywords will not only increase traffic to websites and Squidoo pages but, quite possibly increase your income.

We have established that the best way to get targeted traffic to your website or Squidoo page relies on the ability to find profitable keywords. How does one do that?

Well according to Google search results there are a billion and one software programs that claim you are one keystroke away from the holy grail of profitable keywords. Do you believe the hype?

There are some very good keyword research software available on the market but not only are they expensive, but they also take a rocket scientist to figure out how to use them efficiently. Learning how to use these programs takes up to much valuable time and I don't have the patience to mess with all that hassle.

I've tried Market Samurai heck, i own it as well as micro niche finder but they both are pricey and as of late the results are unreliable. It seems as though Google has been padding their search results which causes skewed search numbers. Don't get me wrong I am not knocking either of these programs as they have their place so please no nasty grams.

Another option is to due manual Google research to find profitable keywords. I discussed this here in my Squidoo Lens Traffic Lens. I still use this method quite successfully however the drawback to this is it takes a long time to find a good keyword. This is not including the daunting amount of time it takes to find related keyword phrases.

Most people neglect the inclusion of good related keyword phrases which is a vital part of increasing website traffic. Typically speaking, as a general rule, I try to find atleast five good low competition related keywords to include into my website or Squidoo lens content. Fortunately I have recently discovered a quick and painless method to find profitable keywords.

While I still use the manual method of going to Google to find profitable keywords, I am finding that I am doing that less thanks to a web based profitable keyword research tool called Jaaxy. Jaaxy is a new web-based keyword search tool that is very easy to use and I don't have to take a week long class to figure it out.

I took advantage of the Jaaxy Free Trial and I was able to find profitable keywords in 20 different niches in about half an hour. Unlike other keyword research tools each keyword is not only given a color code green being the best, but also a grade. The grade of the keyword indicates the traffic to competition ratio and helped me find low competition keywords that get a great deal of monthly targeted traffic.

I typically only use keywords that are low competition and have a score of 85 or higher. I have had great results using this method. It seems since I have implemented it I have been able to get much more targeted traffic to my lenses.

I am very impressed with this tool so far and at $19 per month I can find profitable keywords and make that minimal investment back in a couple days. I know of some people who pay for a month of it find a bunch of profitable keywords and then let the subscription expire. I plan on keeping my subscription because I am constantly researching keywords.

Regardless of how you decide to find profitable keywords I hope you have learned from this lens that dumb luck alone is not a smart way of getting Google website traffic..Getting targeted traffic to a website or Squidoo page takes a little time but very much worth the investment when you see the results of finding profitable keywords.
