    I've been selling antiques and collectible books and jewelry on eBay for many years. My favorite sources for my merchandise is estate sales and auctions. I have to tell you that the idea of tearing up an old book absolutely horrifies me! If at all possible, books should be kept intact. I think it is sad to ravage it for profit.

    Very helpful lens, I emailed it to a friend of mine who is doing a lot of this. In this day and age any thing we can do to make a few extra bucks helps, and some people make their living off of eBay. (And I'm not talking about Queen Meg)

    Great ideas. I do not sell on eBay, however, I have my non-profit, FIV Cat Rescue, and I have to have fundraisers to get money for the kitties.     Wow what a great lens. A lot of thought has gone into this - thanks for sharing! I really like the barcode booty bit. If you sell a lot through ebay its good to have your own way of taking stock using barcode printers and barcode generator software etc.

    No doubt Ebay is a huge e-retailer and a successful platform for resellers. Ebay, in fact, has recently standardized the need for UPC barcodes for products and items sold on their platform.     The only eBay selling I've done is a random item here and there -- things around my home (or gifts) I didn't need or want any more. But I've done well on those sales and have been considering stepping it up a bit. Not necessarily trying to make a sizable income on eBay but at least a nice little extra chunk.     Most of the stuff I sell on eBay, I've found on eBay. It's terribly easy to bid on lots of items and break them up for resale. My profit margins are 600-800% using this technique.

    Lots of information to take in....great lens. I have been selling on eBay for several years and finding merchants is very difficult and no one wants to give up thier names. Garages sales can be time consuming but you can find some great deals. Some of the books you outlined are great tools and should be checked out. I found buying and reselling stuff eBay can make you some money. Same with craigslist...but the shipping cost always takes away from your profits so you need to buy local items. Here is a site for local items for sale that brings it all together on one site for your town to save money. The best items to check out are larger items that you can save money on shipping since you can pick up the items. Also, you can inspect the items as well as pay cash....lots of benefits reselling items from people who don't use eBay.

    You really never know where you'll find inventory. I've found that friends are often one of the biggest sources. Once people realize you sell on Ebay, word seems to spread as you being the "go-to Ebay person." Squid Angel blessed!

    Very good suggestions! One place people often overlook is eBay itself. I've done very well finding under-priced items on eBay and then just relisting them. A lot of times people have poor descriptions, poor pictures, misspellings or just plain bad ads. Other times even great items just slip thru the cracks for whatever reason.

    My two favorite places to find the best killer deals on eBay are Last minute eBay auctions and eBay auctions ending with no bids. Each work a little differently and each can uncover some truly unbelievable prices.

    Great resource. I am an Ebay seller. I use to buy on other site and sell on Ebay. Now it's the opposite, I find better deals on Ebay that I can sell higher on other venues. I just wish Ebay reverse to the great place it was for sellers a couple of years ago.

    Once you have selected a product and sourced a supplier you need to make sure that your listing stands out in the competitive eBay marketplace. There are many dodgy looking templates and the shameful borders offered by eBay which while ok for the odd item just looks to unprofessional for a full time eBay business.

    You can get really cheap stuff from China at websites like Taobao http://goo.gl/ol3X from china. Its in Chinese so you may need to use a program like Google Chrome to help you if you cannot read Chinese. Feel free to ask me anything about Taobao, I am kinda an expert when it comes to buying from there.

    Whew, you really know your stuff! I used to do very well selling on eBay until I found Squidoo which now consumes most of my online time. I loved the challenge of finding those ridiculous hard to find toys on my daughter's wish list and then buying a few extra to sell and cover the costs of my purchase! Guilt-free shopping. :)

    Great guide with some useful tools, resources and ideas. There are certainly a number of people making good money using dropshipping for Ebay sales.

    You know I really tried hard to make a living at Ebay but I just couldn't do it. Maybe I just wasn't selling the right items. It took so much time and there were so many fees I just couldn't see the point. Maybe I should have tried one of these great resources first? IDK. You have a great lens here!     It's great when you can find something different to sell, but the thing I found with looking at a lot of wholesalers is that they sell you something for $5, it has a selling price of $19, and then you find 50 people selling it on eBay for $5.25, so what's the point. I'm still looking for my niche market - I believe it can be done. Really nice lens, 5 *****

    We've done the eBay thing for years. This one time my husband was looking for a snowboard for our son and found a lot of 300 snowboards. He placed a bid of $300. for all 300 and won! He drove for a couple hours (the only bidders aloud to bid were those able to drive and pick the boards up) to pick them up and to his releif, the deal was legitiamate.     Good lens actually a great lens. Just wanted to advise to new ebayers watch those wholesalers that want a yearly fee. Best thing to do is read that add 99 tips by Skip McGrath. I have all his books and I am a memeber of his coaching program. They have excellent advise on getting started on ebay. On that same page he has a link to wholesalers. If you going to pay anyone do World Wide. They set up the best wholesalers or even direct from over seas.
