My Story About Finding Mom

Okay here is my mom and dad. It is a picture of them the day after they were married and they wanted their picture taken in an old fashion photograph. I remember I stayed with someone and was puppy-sitted because mom and dad could not take me with them (besides it was their their two day honeymoon).

Both mom and dad really loves us furry people. Mom had a little girl puppy that was 17 human years old when she needed to go and become an Angel. Dad's bestest friend went to be an Angel too, so we figure Mom and Dad's little furry ones are flying around together in heaven.

I am really lucky though, you know-Mom and Dad brings me home a lot of surpises and Mom cooks all of my meals. There are so many furry buddies out in the world that does have any food, water or anyone to spoil them. I wonder why, because we love our humans unconditionally even when they get mad at us, we still love'em. Oh, again please forgive me I got off track again.

Mom does not like talking about herself too much and dad, well he is the same way. So perhaps we should move a long and I can tell you how mom and I found each other.

I was living in Indiana with this family who had a lot of us Yorkies. The owner kept us separated most of the time but often would take some of the others to shows and stuff. The owner never took me because she said my hair was not show quantity. I am not sure what that meant but its okay.

My owner went into a store that my Mom was an Assistant Manager in and my Mom was talking about wanting a little Yorkie puppy not too long after her little furry girl went to be an Angel. My owner said she had raised Yorkies and that she had one that she was wanting to get rid of.

So the next day my owner took me to the store my mom worked at, and when I seen my mom and my mom seen me, all I wanted to do was wrap my paws around her neck! And I did!!! SO without even thinking about it, my mom said, "YES!!!" And guess what, I went home with Mom!

Well, I went home with mom after she got off from work. I spent the day in the office and mom checked on me a lot of times! The lady who owned me told my mom she could not have my birth certificate-Mom said it didn't matter as long as she had me!

When the lady who use to own me took me to meet mom that day, she said my name was, umm, was, ummm something, I forgot now. But when mom took me to see my new home, she wanted to call me some special. A strong name, a name that held power. Just because I am so small does not mean I cannot have a name that means something strong and big.

Well, actually Danu is a Celtic Goddess. In Irish mythology, Danu is the mother goddess of the Tuatha Dé Danann (Old Irish: "The peoples of the goddess Danu"). Though primarily seen as an ancestral figure, some Victorian sources also associate her with the land.

So, okay although Danu is a Goddess name, it still sounds male and we liked it, so that is why I am named Danu. Oh, and in this picture that is a better picture of buddy my squirrel.

We love to walk/hike in the woods. Well, I use to really love it, now either mom or dad need to carry me a lot because these little legs hurt a lot and my eye sight is really, really not good. But my nose still works!!!

Last year one weekend we spent almost the whole day walking around this place and it smelt so good. Although, there sure are some unusual smells when you get up in the mountains.

I use to be called "The Lizard King" because we use to live in this place and I chased lizards around all of the time. That was back when my eye sight was better. Now sometimes just to be funny mom and dad will tease me and say, "Hey, Lizard King, where's the Lizards!!" When I hear that word, my nose goes crazy and I start running around like a young pup!! You do not even have to ask, YES I have ran into things and bumped my head-but playing is good, I really enjoy doing that with mom and dad!

As Danu explained, there are many animals in places that need a good home. A home that can give them love, warmth and care. Our pets have mood swings just like us humans and there are days when the two of you try to avoid each, but there is never a moment that the love in your heart and your pets heart does not shines through.

It is a huge responsibility to take care of a pet, but in return the reward of being shown unconditional love without a bit of judgement is worth every second of the responsibility you have.
