Finding Products to Sell on eBay - Three Resources
Finding hot products to sell is one element of any successful eBay business. Here are three ways in which you can tap into eBay itself to help find areas of hot products.
1. Hot Categories Report
The first research tool you might consider is eBay's Hot Categories Report, which is produced monthly.
The beauty is that the report goes right down to category level 4. At this level we are more or less talking about products. And the data is from the best source of all - eBay.
The eBay Hot Categories Report uses two key pieces of data to determine what is hot on eBay - month-on-month bid growth and month-on-month listing growth.
In other words, it identifies the categories in which the bid activity has grown the most from last month. This increase in bidding indicates that a growing number of eBay buyers want to buy from these categories.
It merges this bid growth data with categories which have seen the most growth in the number of listings. In other words, more eBay sellers deem it worthwhile to list in these categories.
The eBay Hot Categories Report identifies categories as being hot, very hot and super hot.
2. Want It Now
The next place you can go to find suggestions for hot products is another eBay facility. Called Want It Now, it is found on eBay's home page down the left hand side, in the Specialty Sites section.
Want It Now enables buyers to create an entry describing an item they're looking to buy.
Any eBay seller can read these wants, and respond directly with relevant auctions which offer the type of product the buyer is looking for.
Want It Now is such a significant facility, that a commercial software program has been developed to enable analysis of Want It Now entries. This is called Auction Yen.
3. eBay Pulse
The third place within eBay which can be examined to help you in determining hot product areas is the facility called eBay Pulse.
For each category, eBay Pulse gives up to ten keywords used by eBay searchers in trying to locate items in which they're interested. eBay Pulse also enables you to drill down the category levels.
Any of the above three resources can be usefully used in finding products to sell on eBay.
By far the best wholesale and dropship source directory is called OpenSource and you can read more about it at www.worldwidebrands.com
