One of the absolute coolest things about the Internet is the ability that you have to locate almost anything you want to know or anyone you have ever known. You can find the physical address and you can find someone's e-mail address with relative speed and ease.

There are countless resources on the World Wide Web that will allow you to conduct such a search. They range from free to fairly pricey and the results vary from poor to fairly good. What you need to do is balance out your need to find this information with your ability to pay for it.

Obviously the best way to find someone's e-mail address is to just ask the person for it. However if you are looking for someone that you have lost contact with, that is not going to be an option. In a case like that you will need to dig out your detective hat and do some research.

To even begin this process, you should understand how an e-mail address is structured. The first portion of the address is what is known as the person's Email name. The second half is the domain name or the place where the email is saved. These are separated by the @ symbol.

When doing your research and trying to find someone's e-mail address you should be aware that the names and domains are not case sensitive so ABLE@ johns.com is the same as able@johns.com. That makes it a little less tedious to locate and remember them.

It would be absolutely marvelous if there were a master listing of e-mail addresses but alas, there is not. That runs hand- in- hand with the fact that there is not one telephone directory that has everyone's phone number in it. It would be a daunting task to compile. Even worse, it would be impossible to find anyone in there.

So if you are trying to find someone's e-mail address, what are your available options? The first, as we mentioned, was to ask them for it, the second and easiest is to check your own e-mail for any incoming mail from that person and glean the address from that group.

There are several places on the web that contain e-mail address databases and you can often find someone's e-mail address in places such as these. You can get to them but they are fairly limited on what they have and how much of it they can give you. Most of these directories actually get the data from Usenet newsgroups. If the person that you are looking for uses this type of a group then the address that they are associated with can be scoured off that an added to the directory listing.

People can also place their own e-mail address on these directories, assuming that they want that address to be found by the people that are searching to find someone's e-mail address. But these days, many people are not very keen on sharing private information for various reasons.
