The Art of Fine Stationery -- Buying It, Using It, Sending It & More

I am a stationery fanatic! 

Throughout childhood, college and my very responsible job in insurance, I have had a fascination with stationery and an artistic bent to my personality.

With marriage and motherhood came new opportunities to shop for stationery, but as a busy mother of two I found that I wanted something that could multitask. A stylish design on high quality paper was a must, but it had to be simple enough to make itself useful for multiple occasions: something that would look good as a handwritten birthday wish, or as an imprinted invitation to a birthday bash. Finding such a thing, however, was like searching for that perfect party dress the night of the party - impossible.

So, seeking an occasional outlet from Thomas the Tank Engine, diapers, and in depth discussions about the merits of preschool, I decided to put my artistic abilities and love of stationery to good use. The result of this sudden whim was, of course, hen and barley press. The first effort was the "cocktails" card, created for a friend's party. The card was imprinted with a 1920's style font and wording resembling a recipe for a cocktail. Happily, the invitation and party both were a smashing success. Encouraged, I kept going...
