Finger nail fungus can be a nightmare: it's painful, embarassing and can even disfigure the fingers and nails. Fortunately, there are a number of home remedies that you can try to get rid of your finger nail fungus for good.

By far the most popular natural cure for nail fungus is a vinegar soak. To try a vinegar soak to banish your nail fungus, fill a container with warm water and vinegar, creating a 50-50 solution. Many people use white vinegar, although apple cider vinegar is best if available. Soak your fingernails in this solution for 10-20 minutes. Wipe your nails dry completely with a clean towel. Use a vinegar soak two to three times daily and see if your fungal infection clears up.

There are also a number of alternatives you can use instead of vinegar in the soak. For example, many people use rubbing alcohol soaks twice daily to clear up fungal infections. Others soak their nails in listerine because the antiseptic can get rid of the fungus for good.

You can also try Vicks Vaporub to clear up your finger nail fungus, although this can have mixed results. Vicks Vaporub can probably keep fungal infections from taking root, although it doesn't seem very effective at getting rid of an existing infection.

Lastly, hydrogen peroxide can also be used to clear up a fungal infection in the nails. Hydrogen peroxide can cause chemical burns, however, so it should be used with caution. If you want to try this home remedy, soak your affected nails in either pure hydrogen peroxide or a diluted solution for 5-15 minutes twice daily.

There are a few things to keep in mind when you try home remedies. Unfortunately, they don't work for everyone, especially those with moderate to severe infections.
