Check the electrical devices

In order to prevent fire at the office it is vital to check the electrical devices very carefully. Among the essential steps you should take are:

1. Turn the electrical devices off every after work. Turning off all the electrical devices will not only save energy, it will also prevent fire from occurring. Most devices that are left running for a long period of time will overheat, which can potentially cause fire. Although most employees are doing their responsibilities, some tend to forget it. This is why security personnel have to double check all the working areas to ensure that nothing is on.

2. Check the electrical lines regularly. Maintaining the electrical lines and connections at the office is vital. Even if you do not suspect anything wrong about your electrical wirings, you have to schedule it for general check up regularly. In addition, you have to know symptoms that your electrical connections have problems. Dimming and flickering lights are just some of the symptoms of electrical connection problems.

3. Prevent the devices from overheating. This is why you have to turn your devices off when you are no longer using them. It would also help if you do not use your devices all at the same time or plugging them in the same power outlet or extension wires.

4. Organizing the combustible materials in its proper storage is also vital. Follow the fire regulations when it comes to storage of flammable liquids, combustible materials and sources of heat. Do not ignore certain devices like coffeemaker or oven at the office kitchen because they can also cause fire. These sources of heat can easily burn paper or cause flammable liquids to ignite.

5. Keep the fuel sources away from flammable objects. As mentioned earlier, make sure that flammable objects are not placed next to possible sources of fire. Do not cover electrical wires with floor carpets. If you are working flammable chemicals, see to it that the working area is free of any substances that can lead to a fire.

It is important to have a plan

Although you do your best to prevent fire, it is still important to have a plan in case a fire breaks. This is why offices should have to make certain preparations. Here are the essential preparations that all offices should have:

1. There should be an escape plan. See to it that the office includes multiple emergency exits. Employees should know where to pass when there is a fire. They should also have access to the electrical fire extinguisher. It is important if the company spends time to educate their employees on how to deal with fire and how to prevent it.

2. Install fire equipment. Extinguishers should be placed in accessible areas. There should also be alarms installed, smoke detectors and water sprinklers. This will help secure the employees in case a fire gets out of hand. In addition, employees should know how to use the said devices. Scheduled training is necessary to help employees learn how to fight fire when they need to.

3. Post the fire safety signs in visible areas of the office. Aside from fire safety equipment, posting safety signs is also important. Exit signs are the most important. Everyone should be able to see it including the visitors. The different exits should be laid out and posted in visible spaces like doorways and pathways.

It is also essential that there are other fire safety signs that will direct employees with what to do or where to go when there is fire. This should point them to where to go for safety. It should show an illustration of the dos and don'ts when there is fire. The signs should be clear that even those who are clueless about what to do when there is fire can understand.

Conduct fire drills

4. Conduct fire drills. If an organization should conduct trainings on how to fight fire, include the drills. It is easier to tell people what to do. However, this does not mean that they will do exactly what they are told to do. Having surprise drills will help employers or building owners assess if the employees are well aware of what to do when such disaster strikes.

5. All employees should be aware of fire prevention policies. Aside from learning how to fight fire, it is also important that employees follow the policies set by the company to prevent it. If the company implements a no smoking policy in the building, then everyone should comply. If the company sets that all electrical devices should be turned off after working hours, then they should do just that.

The office is where most of us spend our day

The office is where most of us spend our day. We stay there for at least eight hours. This is why it is essential that we know the fire fighting mechanisms that the building has. It is only right that we take time to familiarize the whereabouts of the different emergency exits as well as the location of the fire extinguishers and alarms.

It is essential to have safety devices at the office. This is to ensure the safety of everyone working there. It is not only the management's responsibility to ensure the safety of all the employees. Employees should do their part too. It is crucial that they follow the fire safety policies to help prevent fire in the workplace.

Again, planning is very important. Although there are policies on how to prevent fire from happening, there should also be a plan that outlines what the employees should do if ever a fire occurs. It should be reinforced with the different safety features in the workplace like enough number of fire exits, accessible fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, fire alarms and water sprinklers. All of these preparations will help keep the employees secured.

Hey great lens. You seem to have a lot of lenses on fire. Good work. But one suggestion... try changing your headings of your modules like "new flickr photos" and "new videos"... change them to something more specific instead of the generic heading. This will help your squidoo health check and I assume will boost your lensrank. Keep up the good work
