The Firm's Wave Reviews

What's The Firm Wave?

The world of home exercise equipment is varied and, it has to be said, complicated. When you are searching for something easy to use, not too expensive, and that isn't huge and ugly, what do you look for?

All you want to do is lose a few pounds and tone up those flabby bits in the comfort and privacy of your own spare room, right? You've no idea whether Cardio training is better for burning calories, or maybe working out with weights, or what about Pilates? All the infomercials around just add to your confusion.

STOP RIGHT THERE! No need to panic. There is a new product which will do exactly what you need at a price you'll be happy to pay.

It's called a The Firm Wave, and it's taking the home exercise market by storm!

The Firm Wave System

The Latest In Home Exercise Equipment - The Wave

The WaveI'm a Personal Trainer, and I review a lot of these products. Some of them make me want to bang my head on the wall, some I just gape at in horror.

The Firm WAVE is the first in a long time to actually get me excited - so excited in fact that I'm telling everyone about it.

Why Is The Firm Wave So Good?

Cardio, Strength Training And Stretching!

Why is The Firm WAVE so good?

Because there are 3 elements to exercising. And the Wave is the only one I've seen that will do them all!
It's like this:-

  • You need to do CARDIO exercise to burn some calories and make your heart and lungs stronger.
  • You need STRENGTH exercises , i.e working out with weights or resistance bands to build and tone muscles for a nice shape and more calorie burning.
  • And you need CORE exercises to strengthen your inside muscles for stability, good balance and that flat tummy we all dream about.
Missing out on any of these 3 above will make your workouts far less effective, and reduce your fat and calorie burn. But the Wave does them all!

The Firm Wave is simple; just a piece of strong plastic shaped into a curve. The picture will explain it better than words. One side (curve up) is stable and won't move - perfect for stepping up and down on for cardio exercise. Bands can be fixed to this side, so you can do resistance exercises to tone muscles, and you can lie or lean over the curve for core work and Pilates exercises.

Turn the Wave over, and it rocks. Literally! You stand on the edges and "surf" by pushing with your legs. More cardio, plus balance and abdominal training as well. And it's fun!

And best of all? The Firm Wave comes with its own mat, several inspirational DVDs, eating guide and handy wallchart, and will fit into a closet, enabling it to be used in the smallest of apartments.

And all this for under $100!!
(Now can you see why I got so excited?)

The Firm Wave Reviews Q&A

The Firm Wave Workout Is It Effective?

Question: I'm thinking about buying the Firms Wave and am looking for a review so that I can make up my mind as to whether this is an effective piece of exercise equipment. What do you think?

Answer: It's a fantastic piece of home exercise equipment as long as you're going to use it! The Firms Wave will burn calories and tone buns and thighs, while giving your core a great workout as well.

I've had fast results with this for my clients, and best of all, it doesn't take up much space and comes complete with instructional DVDs for under $90.
Amazing value!

The FirmWave Workout Q&A

Does The Firm Wave Really Work?

Question: I've bought a lot of home exercise equipment in the past to help me lose weight. Most of them are pieces of junk! Gimmicks to entice me into parting with my hard earned cash. What makes the Firm's Wave any different?

Answer: The Wave is inexpensive in the first place so your risk is small. I agree a lot of exercise equipment you see advertised is rubbish but the Wave is such a simple device there is nothing to go wrong. It forces your body to work much harder because you are working on an unstable surface in much the same way a stability ball or wobble board does.

The advantage of the Wave over these pieces of equipment is that as well as strengthening your core and abdominals you can get a truly fantastic fat burning cardio workout as well. To get an idea of what the Wave can do watch the video. I understand your reservations about the Wave but ask you try it for yourself, it is a great piece of kit. Ride The Wave you won't regret it.

The Firm Wave Personal Gym Q&A

I have other home exercise equipment

QuestionI have other pieces of home exercise equipment like a cross trainer, dumbbells etc why should I buy the Wave as well.

Answer Our bodies will adapt to any exercise / load we place on it. The danger of doing the same exercises in the same order is that we will reach a weight loss plateau. The Firm Wave will introduce some variety into your exercise program to help prevent this from happening.

Also, because the wave is an unstable surface (curved side down) from which to exercise, it forces your core and stabilising muscles to work much harder and therefore you burn more fat.

When you consider how inexpensive the Wave is and how easy it is to store, for me it's well worth the money.

I'm Looking To Buy The Firm Wave Q&A

Can I Use The Wave If I'm Overweight?

Question I'm looking to buy a piece of exercise equipment so that I can workout at home. I'm not very fit and a lot overweight would the Wave be suitable for me?

Answer The Firm Wave is quite an intense workout. The exercises can be modified to accommodate various levels of fitness. As with any new exercise it is ALWAYS best to get expert advise before starting. This is particularly important if you have any health related issues or are a lot overweight. Your health professional should be able to advise you (Doctor, Physiotherapist or Personal Trainer)

How Does The FirmWave Compare With A Treadmill? Q&A

Should I Order A Firm Wave Or A Treadmill?

Question I've heard that a treadmill is a great piece of home exercise equipment. Why should I buy the Firm's Wave instead of a treadmill?

Answer The treadmill is a fantastic piece of exercise equipment and if you have the space and you can afford one then they are a great choice and give a first class cardio workout. The problem is they can cost thousands of dollars and take up a lot of space. When you compare this with the Firms Wave which takes up no space (you can store it under the bed) and realise it costs less than $100 the choice becomes simple.

The Wave also enables you to do a wider variety of exercises. The treadmill gives a great cardio workout (so does the Wave) but the Wave can also help you with strength training, step and stretching.

Won't A Fitball Do The Same Job As The Firms Wave? Q&A

A fitball is cheaper why should I order the Firm Wave?

Question The Wave looks like a great piece of kit but a fit ball is much cheaper ($25 vs $100) is the Wave worth the extra money?

Answer I agree the fit ball is a useful piece of fitness equipment and I recommend you buy them both! They will both challenge your core by enabling you to exercise on an unstable surface but the Wave has many advantages over the fit ball.

  • A fit ball is a large piece of equipment which is difficult to store when it's inflated whereas the Wave can be stored under your bed.
  • Although you can do a wide variety of exercises on a fit ball you can do many more on the Wave.
  • By adding exercise bands to the Wave you can get a great strength training workout.
  • The Wave can give you an intense cardio workout as you rock from side to side which is much more challenging than anything you could do on a fitball.
  • You can use the Wave to make Pilates exercises more difficult.
  • The Wave comes with 4 DVD's, A healthy eating guide, a wall chart and an exercise mat
  • At under $100 the Firm Wave comes in at a price most people can afford.

The Firm Wave - Firmer And Leaner In 10 Workouts Q&A

Fimer and leaner in 10 workouts

Question The Firm claims that by using the Wave for 10 workouts I'll feel and look firmer and leaner. This is just hype right?

Answer Well not exactly. The real question is will YOU look leaner and fitter after just 10 workouts and the answer to that depends entirely on you. You could look and feel better after doing almost any exercise for 30 mins three time a week (If it includes a Cardio and Strength training components like the Wave).

The Wave is a great piece of kit but successful fat loss depends on many factors including your eating, the exercise you take and your own motivation. Just buying the Wave isn't going to help you get that lean and strong body you desire - You actually have to commit to using it 2-3 times a week. Not just for a week either.

So, the claim is true, you will feel and look a little leaner after 10 workouts but lets face it your not going to drop 40lbs in 3 weeks (nor should you aim to)! Slow and steady like the tortoise should be your goal. You can do it but it will take some effort you don't get anything for nothing. But, if your ready the Firm Wave will help you.

Can I Use The Firm Wave In My Pilates Program Q&A

Pilates and The Wave a Great Combination

Question Can I use the Firm Wave to make my Pilates Exercises more challenging?

Answer Yes you can. I bought 18 TBows (Similar to The Wave) so that I could use them in Pilates classes that I teach. They can be used to make many of the standard Pilates exercises more difficult and it also makes the class a lot more fun. Most standing, prone, supine and even some side lying exercises can be modified to use the Wave. I will be posting a video showing some of the exercises soon so be sure to bookmark this page!

I'm An Older Person Q&A

I'm In My Fifties - Can I still Use The Firm's Wave?

Question I'm a little older than most :) in my fifties. Would the Wave be suitable for me?

AnswerI'm 46 and my husband is 52! I would say that if your over 45 or have any current health issues it would be advisable to check with your health professional before you start any new exercise program including the Wave.

Otherwise go for it! Just start slowly and increase the level of difficulty as you get Stronger / Fitter.

Can The Firm Wave Be Bought In A Store? Q&A

Where to buy the wave by the Firm

Question Can I buy the wave in a store?

Answer No you can't. At the moment the only way you can buy the Firm Wave Personal Gym is though the Firm's official site. It's possible they may allow on-line retailer Amazon to sell the Wave but when that might be I have no idea. It's highly unlikely you will ever see it in a regular store.

So at the moment this is the only place you can buy it and it is discounted at the moment.

Where Can I Get The Best Price On The Firm Wave Q&A

I'm ready to buy The Firm Wave

Question OK Carol I'm convinced! Where's the cheapest place I can buy The Firm Wave?

Answer To the best of my knowledge the only way you can Buy The Firm Wave is through The Firms official site. It's possible they may sell through other channels eventually but even then there's no guarantee it'll be any cheaper.

Why wait?

Can I Buy Just The Wave Q&A

The Firm Wave System

Question Can I buy the Firm Wave on its own in other words without the DVD's and other stuff?

Answer No you can't. Even if you could what would be the point? You would only save a couple of dollars anyway. The Firm Wave is different from other exercise equipment you may have used before. Without the instructional DVD's you wouldn't know how to get the best from The Firm Wave System it and therefore your weight loss would be less than it could be. Also because you didn't have professional instruction it could be dangerous. Just buy it it's less than $100 anyway.

How Many Times A Week Should I Workout On The Wave? Q&A

The wave exercise machine rocks!

Question Once I've bought the wave how many times a week should I use it for maximum fat loss?

Answer It all depends on your current fitness level and what exercise you're doing at the moment. I like to do 20 mins three times a week but I also combine my workout with other exercises. If you're new to the wave 10-20 mins three times a week should give you good results. As you get fitter you can increase the time to maybe 20-40 mins.

I've Been Using The Firm Wave And Have Only Lost 3lbs! - Q&A

The Wave Really Does Burn Fat and Build Muscle

Question I've been using the Wave for a few weeks now and I've only lost a few pounds. What am I doing wrong?

Answer Nothing! You're doing great just keep going and don't give up now. As you exercise you are slowly building muscle as well as losing fat. Because muscle is much heavier than fat but takes up a smaller amount of space the scales won't tell you the whole story. The good news is as you continue to exercise on The Wave the extra muscle will help you burn even more fat!

I bet you feel better and have more energy though don't you? Soon you'll notice your clothes feel just that little bit to big and not as snug.

Just keep going please don't give up now and I promise you'll get the fat loss you're looking for.

TheFirmWave Creaks When I Use It Q&A

My Wave makes noises when I workout is it safe?

Question My Wave creaks when I workout on it and I'm afraid it might break. I'm 60lbs under the maximum weight limit what do you think.

Answer Don't worry about it. If you're under the 275lb weight limit and The Wave isn't damaged then it's not a problem. My husband is 175lbs and it creaks when he's on it. I just turn up the music and rock harder lol. After a while you just don't hear it anymore!

Is The Firm Wave Suitable For Experienced Exercisers

TheFirmWave - one of the best workouts money can buy!

Question Is The Firm Wave only good for novice exercisers? I've been exercising hard for years and before I buy it I need to be assured it'll give me a good workout.

Answer In my opinion The Wave is suitable for all experience levels. If you're a beginner you can start nice and gently with some of the easier routines. However once you're familiar with the Wave and your fitness increases the more advanced workouts will be challenging enough for you.

An important factor to keep in mind is that as our fitness levels increase our bodies will adapt to any exercise we do. Therefore to progress we're obliged to change our workouts else we'll plateau. The Wave can help prevent this from happening by challenging our bodies differently this also has the added advantage of keeping our exercise sessions fresh and more interesting,

The Firm Wave Believer Club - What's The Score With It? - FAQ

Do I have to join the firm wave believers club?

Question I've been hearing rumours about the firm wave believers club. Could you tell me if I have to join?

Answer To the best of my knowledge you don't have to join. I believe if you check the order form carefully you can opt out. If you decide to try it and decide you don't want to stay just cancel before the 30 day free trial is over. If you do't you'll be charged $24.95 for every additional month you stay. I therefore don't think it's a problem.

I absolutly love the wave. You'd be crazy not to try it. I feel great and look slimmer after only 6 workouts. Its tough so I won't be getting bored for a very long time. I strongly recommend buying rock solid buns and abs with the resistance band from the beginning. I have 5 dvds to alternate between and I love it. I already see that my hips are slimmer!!! I sweat like a pig when i do the wave...its great and worth every penny!!!!!!!

I weigh 267lbs and I worried that the little bit of creaking and crunching was bad, but so far it's working fine and the noises it makes when torqued haven't resulted in damage. It's just plastic parts moving against each other as weight is distributed differently, I guess.

If you want to try the Firm, but don't feel comfortable with the Wave, the Firm Body Sculpting System (version 2, I think), has a stepper (the Fanny Lifter) that is two small steps that stack together. It might feel more sturdy for you. I must warn you, though. I found those workouts to be far more strength-training based and were really challenging. I like the level of the Wave more. The Wave is challenging but not to the point that you don't think you can stick with it.

I had lost 85 pounds a few years ago and the Firm videos/DVDs were fitness staple for me. Their workouts do get good results, but you must modify them if anything feels uncomfortable.

in reply to Leah You should be OK at 225lbs but I've only tested it to 170lbs (my husband). If you're concerned about the weight limit you could take a look at The T-Bow It has an upper limit of 660lbs. Snag is it costs 199 dollars a lot more than The Firm Wave.

All the best,

I know it's very annoying they don't sell it in the UK. I was lucky The Firm sent me one to review so I'm one of the few people here to have one. You could always look at the T-Bow it costs a little more at 115 pounds but will do the same job. You can buy it at Amazon.
