First Team Portable Basketball Systems

Portable basketball goals come in every shape, color and size imaginable. Portable goals are great purchases for basketball enthusiasts since most goals break down to store in the winter months. You can also easily roll portable goals to your desired location to play. When searching online or going to a retail store, finding the right goal can be an intimidating and daunting task. We want to help you choose the right goal for your specific basketball needs. Each portable goal is unique and caters to specific basketball needs. By selecting a hoop you are most comfortable with, you will get your money's worth and spend countless hours of perfecting your game.

The first thing you want to figure out is who will be playing on the goal. Different goals are designed for different types of players. The second thing you want to figure out is if you want your goal to be fixed height or adjustable height. Most portable goals are offered with adjustable height. They vary, but most will lower to 6'6" and go up to 10'. The next thing you want to figure out is how much space you have to put the goal. Different goals have different dimensions for their base and the reach. The reach is the distance from the pole out to the backboard. Next you need to consider the size of the backboard. They range from 48" to a full size 72" backboard and are offered in acrylic glass or tempered glass.

There are three categories of portable goals - home goals, premium home goals, and commercial goals.

Home goals can be found in any sporting goods store and range in price from 200-500 dollars. These goals are usually filled with sand or water at the base for ballast and have two or three piece metal poles and acrylic backboards. Although they can satisfy beginner players, most basketball enthusiasts that initially purchase home units ultimately end up upgrading to a more stable, durable goal. Home units usually have a lot of movement from the backboard and rim when playing. The backboards are usually very thin acrylic and do not offer a "true" bounce. These goals are also not designed for dunking or hanging on the rim and can be a hazard for teenagers that will inevitably lower the goal and try this feat.

This category is where the majority of basketball enthusiasts end up when purchasing portable goals.

The First Team Rollasport and the First Team Rollajam are considered premium home goals. They are made with heavy gauge powder coated steel one piece poles and are on a base that easily rolls. Solid Cement Foundation blocks are hidden in two steel ballast boxes for the needed weight to support the pole, backboard, and handle aggressive play. These goals have a mechanical crank that actually easily lowers the pole to a vertical stance for storage. The Rollasport and Rollajam packages have the same base package but differ in the height option. The Rollasport is a 10ft fixed height goal (when upright) where the Rollajam has the adjustable height option. Both of these goals are available in 48", 54" or 60" half inch thick acrylic glass or tempered glass options. They both come included with your choice of colored base and pole padding and have the option for backboard padding. These goals have a reach of 24" from the pole to the backboard, so the base can sit off the playing area and the goal can reach over the playing court. This category is great for children and teenagers and will last 10 years if taken care of properly.

Also in premium home goals are the First Team Rampage and First Team Fury units. Although these goals are in the premium home category, they are purchased commercially as well. These units are more stable and even heavier than the previous First Team goals. The Rampage and Fury portable basketball goals are by far the best performing home basketball hoops in its class. No other portable hoop offers this level of rigidity, portability, and simple height adjustment at such an affordable price. Infinite rim height adjustment can be made with the easy crank handle located on the back of the vertical mast from 6'6" to 10'. The Rampage and Fury models use a mechanical crank up design which is far superior from other "spring slide" methods. The Rampage or Fury models can easily be transported across the gym floor or up a driveway by simply depressing the foot lever and lowering the extension arm. The Extension arm also drops down easily without tools to pass under doorways for storage rooms or garages. The Rampage has a 30" reach while the Fury has a 48" reach and both have enclosed ballast boxes for concrete foundation blocks. Both of these goals can be fitted with 48", 54" or 60" backboard options depending on the play desired and both come included with a heavy duty Flex/Breakaway rim. They both are included with your choice of colored base and pole padding. Elementary schools, churches, and institutions regularly purchase these goals for their younger children's leagues and Physical Education classes. These goals are great for multi-use rooms and gymnasiums.

Finally, we have the commercial portable goal category. In this category you have the First Team Thunder, First Team Storm, and the First Team Hurricane Goals.

The Thunder is the same design as the Fury Unit but is even heavier and more stable. This unit has a 48" reach from backboard to pad but the pole structure is strong enough to support a regulation 72" acrylic or tempered glass backboard.

The First Team Storm Portable basketball system is a spring loaded portable basketball goal designed for commercial use in a gymnasium, field house, multipurpose facility, or recreational complex. The Storm is spring loaded for one man to easily raise and lower the unit from 6' all the way to 10ft. The Storm has a telescoping extension that can take the backboard out to 5'6" from the base padding back to 4" if desired. Your choice of colored base padding is standard on these units and covers three sides of the base. This unit is designed for a lifetime of trouble free use and can be fitted with 60" or 72" Acrylic or Tempered glass backboards.

The First Team Hurricane is the same base unit as the Storm but is designed for High School and College requirements. The unit comes with the Unbreakable regulation 72" backboard and 180 degree full tilt breakaway rim. The unit has a NCAA and NHSF accreditation since the extension reach is an amazing 96" from padding to backboard.

Any of the commercial goals by First Team also includes Free Lettering added vertically to the padding in your choice of color and font.
