Obama's Dog: Portuguese Water Dog is the First Dog of the White House
The Obama family have decided on a Portuguese water dog. The 6-month old puppy will be named "Bo" after Michelle Obama's father, whose nickname was "Diddley". The names Frank and Moose were once in the running.
The dog is a gift from Senator Edward Kennedy who also owns Portuguese water dogs.
Fulfilling another campaign promise, the puppy will be in White House residence on April 14th 2009. Barack Obama promised a dog to his daughters during his acceptance speech on November 4, 2008.
In the photo is Senator Kennedy's Portuguese water dog, Cappy.
