Who Are the Gilmore Girls?

Lorelai Gilmore is a thirty-something single mother. She had her daughter Rory when she was only 16. The next year, she ran away from her rich, overbearing parents and got a job at a country inn in Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Since then, she has lived in Stars Hollow, and she has never asked her parents for anything...

Until it comes to her daughter's future. Rory gets into the Chilton School, an elite high school which will be her stepping stone to an ivy-league university. And Lorelai has no other choice but to ask her parents to help pay for it.

And so begins a long journey of change and growth, anger and forgiveness.

The world-renown TV series Gilmore Girls follows the girls' lives from Rory's 16'th birthday until she graduates from college.

Why Should I Watch Gilmore Girls?

If you're not yet a fan, you should check out Gilmore Girls if you like

... witty banter at a mile a minute.

The average script is twice as long as you'd expect for an hour-long TV drama. And the dialogue oozes with sharp, witty repartee.1 point

... to laugh, to cry, to fall in love.

The writing is so sharp and the story lines so compelling, you'll become involved in the characters' plights. You'll feel right along with Lorelai, Rory, and the rest of the characters.1 point

... to forget that the characters in the TV are not real people.

Gilmore Girls has a cast of first-rate actors who know exactly how to make you forget that you're watching a TV show. Many a time I've had to stop myself and tell myself, "Hold on, that's not actually Lorelai Gilmore. That's Lauren Graham playing a part. She's not really torn up inside because of what just happened."1 point

... hundreds of pop-culture references.

Each episode is full of witty references to books, movies, music, famous people, and more. Each one of these reference makes a point or says something about the characters. It's common to find dozens of references in a single episode.1 point

... epic, character-based drama.

Each story stretches across multiple seasons. Yet each of these epic tales has within it smaller stories that last for only a season or a group of episodes. Yet, each episode also stands on its own as a coherent whole.0 points

... world-class romantic comedy.

Gilmore Girls has viewers the world round. Some episodes leave me in stitches. Some leave me in tears. All leave me longing for more. If I were asked to choose my favorite episode, I couldn't, because every single one is a classic.0 points

... kooky small-town charm.

Set in the tiny hamlet of Stars Hollow, the secondary and minor characters are full of charm. It's said that if a scene is too boring, the writers just add Kirk to it, and that fixes it right up.0 points

I miss GILMORE GIRLS!!! Why only 7seasons?! I think fans of the show have been cheated out of at least 4 more seasons! I hear maybe a Gilmore movie is in the works? Why not just bring back the show?!?!?!

I love the Gilmore Girls! Thankfully they are on 2 times here during the day. I love when Rory and Jess were together (and in real life). Too bad it got to be weird this season (with the whole Christopher/divorce thing and Logan :P so I didn't watch. I have many seasons on DVD though. :) 5*s

I think Gilmore girls is a great show for teenage girls. It helps you to become well-rounded in you culture references and gives you many tips on how to be funny. Also, the story line is great (well at least up to the fifth season) :)

Great job with this lens. I love it. This is one of my favorite shows :)
The only thing I think you should add is which characters each of the actors play in your 'Who Stars on Gilmore Girls?' module.
