Some time ago my mum and dad drove to Joshua Tree National Park. After reading your lens, I can see why they loved their vacation there. I hope some day to follow in their footsteps. Such an extensive, well-written lens. Just wonderful!

You have out done yourself! Very, very well written article on the place I call home. Logistics of Joshua Tree are incredibly complex for primarily a front country single pitch climbing area. Way to simplify the rest!
I own the smallest rock climbing guide service in Jt. We are a boutique service with gourmet food, no time limits, all inclusive packages, and tall tales. Wondering if you would add a link to our site in your guides section?

Thanks for the kind words. Your service has been added, and please accept my apologies for the omission. I attended a big blast of a party sponsored by your service this last winter. Excellent fun!

LOVE this lens! We took many family camping trips to Joshua Tree, but that was back in the early 70s ... i don't think there were any restaurants or cafes there back then! At least I don't remember any. I remember how much i loved scrambling around the rocks! all those wonderfully mysterious clumps of giant rocks!

I was a virgin visiting Joshua Tree National Park this week. Unfortunately we only had an hour and it was soooo hot, but at least we got a taste of it. Incredible place to visit. If I have longer time to visit sometime, this guide will be perfect.

I consider myself a seasoned outdoorsman, but you brought up a lot of things I wouldn't have otherwise thought of. Awesome guide, thanks!

I loved reading your guide! Funny and informative, the only left for me is to convince my girlfriend to make a little detour at JTree ^_^

Wow. Tons of information. Two years ago I was almost going there and hence, did a lot of googling. That lense would have come handy then. Sadly enough, I had to cancel the trip due to lack of reliable public transport in the region :(

    Cheers,

What a great job putting this together. I can't even organize my home depot receipts but you can compile all this information add photos and post it for all to see. Great work.

As you'll find (I believe you're in Josh now) the Beatnik is no more.

Keep up the good work and nice side stories (like the weasel in the tent). Loved it!

My husband did an Outward Bound program in Joshua Tree, about 20 years ago. Your pictures remind me of what I saw from his trip. He absolutely loved it! From reading this lens, it is clear that you do too!

Just went and read the Adwords. The only reference to "virgin" seems to be "Meeting Hiking Singles." I'm so disappointed :)
  • Ener-G Nov 18, 2008 @ 7:56 am | delete
What a great way to have a published lens, yet still be a work in progress. The info that will be here is fabulous, your titles are great and I can't wait to see what Google does with the word "virgin!"
