My opinion: Fish is not meat.

My opinion: Fish is not meat. What do you think? Recently myself and my husband had a debate FISH vs MEAT. I think that a fish is not a meat. He thinks fish has a blood, so it's a meat. One thing I know that fish is healthier for me than meat. What is your opinion?

The Merriam-Webster dictionary dates the origin of the term "pescetarian" to 1993 and defines it to mean: "one whose diet includes fish but no meat."

Yes, fish have blood, yes they are animals, but I think the term "meat" refers to human diet.
Nutritionally, fish protein lacks 4 aminoacids that are found in all other kinds of meat.
Regarding the "meaty" taste of fish, you can taste it in some mushroom species, too. Surely enough, mushrooms are not considered meat.
So, you could easily claim that eating fish is not the same to eating meat.

Muscles if I'm not mistaken. Only reason why its not red, and why it is tender is because of (keyword here..) THE ENVIRONMENT it's species has been exposed to. You people need to read a book.
Just because its healthier it doesn't automatically become a vegetable.
When you eat a fish you eat some thing that was once living and breathing.
it must get killed, gutted, cooked and eaten.

    Fish is meat! I guess the definition is arbitrary. However, of all the meat proteins, what makes it preferable is that it only raises the liver temperature 1-2 degrees. Whereas, red meat raise liver temp 5-6 degrees. If you have menopause or andropause it really increases hot flashes, etc. It also heats up all the organs from the liver (right side, lower ribs) to the top of the head. Anyway, fish is really good for keep'n cool baby!

    I'd say the flesh of any animal is meat, whether that's a fish, cow, bird, snake, rodent, it's all meat. Of course, it's arguable but if a reptile or amphibean is meat then I can't see what makes a fish different.

    It's not personally important to me, because I never eat fish--I don't even consider it food! But for those who do eat it, I say you're eating meat. It's the flesh of an animal, after all.

    the best fish is the pork-this is an old saying in my country.In my opinion it depends on the piece of meat itself-that is the fish. Some filleted fish compare with any other kind of meat

    Great challenge for the discussion! I've just voted above, so I can only say the same thing here - fish is just another type of meat, but how and why we call it, use it or distinguish it from other animals has nothing to do with biology. Thanks for this lens.

    I grew up on Kabetogama walleye, it has to be the world's best fish. Yup, we called it fish.

    My mom loves to eat fish with fresh lemon juice, but is not allowed anymore because of her treatment to cure thyroid cancer. My mom is a breast cancer survivor.

    Fish is meat and anyone who thinks other wise is kidding them selves. It is no different from saying an dodo was not a bird because it did not fly.
