When your in the area the National Freshwater Fishing Hall Of Fame should be on your list of places to visit.
A great place to dream that someday your name may be added to the national record fish listing maintained at this site.

The hall is located on six acres of city donated land, beautifully landscaped and located in a heavily traveled vacation area of Hayward, Wisconsin.

It attracts more than 100,000 annual visitors through its gateways to the building and grounds.
The site is much more than a records site as you will discover. The museum has many collectibles - old rods, reels, fish mounts, antique outboard motors, photos and more.

Don't miss your chance to enter the 4 1/2 story muskie which will provide a big thrill for the children and yourself.

Great view of some of our small city.

The Hall's Beginning

The National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame, which maintains records of the largest freshwater fish caught in the world was quite a neglected task until the hall became into being in the 1970s.

Its survival was credited to the Jim Beam Company, whose collectible fish whiskey decanters netted the Hall of Fame a quarter-million dollars in licensing fees.

Showcase of the Hall

Fishing Hall Of Fame GroundsThe National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame has more than 3,000 entries in its world record book. Its museum displays 5,000 fishing lures, 200 rods and reels, 400 mounted fish, and a room of antique and vintage outboard motors. There is a showcase of minnow buckets, ice spearing exhibit, a tackle box display, and look out for big foot.

The collection of mounted world-record freshwater fish are available for all anglers to view like a 22-pound walleye, a 40-pound brown trout, a 46-pound northern pike.

A door in the tail of the muskie offers visitors entry to its innards. Inside is a Shrine with the names of thousands of the Hall's charter members.

World Record Muskie

The Question Lingers On.

The most famous fish is a 69-pound 11-ounce muskie, that was caught by former bootlegger Louis Spray right here in Hayward in 1949. But is it a world record fish? This a matter of some controversy even till this day. The fish hung in Louis Spray's bar, until they were both destroyed in a fire. The fish was painstakingly reconstructed from using photos and vital statistics.

Photo Opt Location

This a nice place to visit on your vacation trip to the area.

It is a wonderful place to take pictures for a lifetime of memories. The children will be delighted to have their picture taken in the mouth of a huge fish, by the large bluegill or walleye on the grounds.

There are many large fish displays outside for you to enjoy.
