Check out the size of the snapper! Here are the photos from the Gulf Harbour Yacht Club Fish O9 contest. Thought by many to be Northern New Zealand's best fishing tournament, the event is pure fun and excitement.

Day One of Fishing - Saturday 14 Nov, 2009
Weigh In Your Fish (photos 1 - 10)
What I Love About This Fishing Competition
Anyone can win the trip to Fiji - it goes to the AVERAGE weight fish for the weekend!
So many prizes to be given away! The photo shows the prize stage surrounded by some of the prizes, just before the start of fishing. The grand prize trip to Fiji goes to the angler who catches the fish closest to the average overall weight for the two days, which runs from 1am on Saturday 14 Nov to 4pm on Sunday 15 Nov, 2009. Last year's trip to Fiji was won by a 15 year old girl!A prize for the largest of each species, the closest to average weight, and lots of spot prizes are highlights of the fishing competitions. Eligible fish include snapper, kahawai, kingfish, trevally and john dory.

- I loved looking at those fish...never saw fish like that before. And what a great service to allow the fishermen to buy a photo for a nominal fee. Excellent, and looks like a lot of fun!
