Fishing

Hi all I would just like to tell you about my latest session which was my first session with lures ever. I took an old 6ft starter rod from when i was little and put on a light reel with braid, grabbed a few lures and set of. I was not dissappointed! I started of with a pike of around a pound and then caught one of two and a half. After this i moved in to the corner of the lake near to some reeds where the pike were striking and managed another three, two being five pounds each and the prize of the day a seven pounder. I caught the two five pounders on a single joint yo-zuri tiger pattern lure whereas the other three were on a small silver and blue mepp.

Other areas of Fishing in which I have just achieved success in are tench and carp fishing with the last two years being extremely productive for the two species for me. What has slightly annoyed me this year are the constant pressure changes which are forcing the fish to get their heads down. For anyone that doesn't know, pressure affects a fish in the same way that gravity affects humans, in that a change would knock us off balance and it may take so it may take some time to feel right. This is the same with an astronaut going in to space. Due to the constant changes in pressure the fish haven't been feeding as well as they normally would but it has still been a good year.

One fish that I would love to catch is a Barbel from one of the fast flowing rivers. They are such streamlined and beautiful fish and they apparently fight harder than any other river fish for their size. I would love to catch it stalking, not just lobbing out a bag of pellets with a hair rigged boilie and hoping as this way is in my mind slightly lazy. Also when stalking you can choose your fish and it is more you versus nature than any other style.
