Fishing in Key West
What makes Key West so great for sportfishing? The waters of this island paradise are warmed by the Gulf stream currents just a few miles offshore and an abundance of species are suuported: Marlin, Swordfish, Sailfish, Dolphin (mahi mahi), Wahoo, Tuna, Mackerel, Snapper, Grouper, Amberjack, Cobia, Kingfish, Tarpon, Shark, to name a few.
Key West offers almost as many ways to fish as it does types of fish to catch. You can fish from a pier or a jetty, take a party boat, hop on a shallow skiff or a charter from 20 feet to a luxury sportfishing yacht of 45 to 50 feet. You can try deep drop fishing, troll for sailfish or dolphin, or take on the challenge of light tackle gear.
