Fit in six for the Nintendo Wii

Fit in six is a fitness game released by Ubisoft for the game platforms Wii and Playstation PS3
The six elements were Fit in six refers to are: balance, cardio, flexibility and core body, lower body and upper body strength.
The game is sold with or without a Ubisoft USB camera, so pay attention when you buy the game. This camera is the same as used in the "Your Shape" game. Ubisoft uses a camera who creates a picture-in-picture view. The advantage of this system is that you can easily compare your own movements with the virtual coach and correct them when necessary.

The gameplay

As you start the game, Fit in six will ask you the classical information as as age, weight, height, etc.
You need to define a goal, such as weight loss or improving balance.

The game gives for workouts properly completed. Once you have gained the proper number of points to complete the goal, it will prompt you to define a new goal.
Fit In Six will suggest workouts based on the goal you have chosen (My Lists) but you are free to choose your own training scheme.
You can do different classes, each containing up to ten different workouts. Workouts range from 3 minutes to over 30 minutes.

Controls

The camera records an image of you and Fit in six puts it in a box next to the character that is doing the workout.
The picture is of bad quality and there is no interaction with the game itself.
Seeing yourself next to the trainer indeed helps a lot for correcting yourself.
A disadvantage is that you have to be able to watch the screen while doing the exercise ;o)

No use of the Wii-mote (except for navigating the menus, no integration with the Balance Board.

Graphics and sounds

The graphics are rather basic, but they clearly show you what you are supposed to do for each workout.
The characters and backgrounds look very "deja-vu".
The music is adapted to the type of workout and can be categorised as Muzak.
The trainer is

Buy it or not?

The proposed exercises are good and training can be pretty intense in the higher levels.
There is no tracking of your movements so there is not much difference with a DVD training course.
The advantage of the console versions is the fact that the menus are easier to navigate and that the game keeps track of your workouts
I do not recommend this game for the beginner. Try Wii Fit plus, one of the My fitness coach games or the EA sports Active series.
The advanced fitness enthusiast with plenty of self-motivation and discipline will love the game.

I have a Wii, but I don't have this game. Nice review!

I confess to knowing virtually nothing about how Wii works! It would seem weird to me to be simulating a sport or something like that in front of a tv. What a concept though! :) Kath

Haven't tried it. Does the "six" refer to six-pack? If so, I am only working on 3 right now, ha!
