You're never too old to start exercising. If you begin with only a few minutes of exercising per week, you can make dramatic changes in your life such as cutting your risks for dementia.
With obesity reaching epidemic proportions in many countries, you can also avoid many of the health problems caused by being overweight.

Where To Start

Pick out a simple exercise you would like to do such as walking, hiking, biking, swimming, or strength training exercises such as lifting weighting.

Try to pick an exercise that gets you outside in the fresh air.

If you think you will have a hard time sticking to any kind of schedule, find a friend who will volunteer to exercise with you. You can coach each other.

Spend about thirty minutes exercising your first week.

The next week increase your exercise times and exercise twice.

By the end of your first month you should be exercising three times per week for thirty minutes per session.

You should already be feeling better because you can becoming physically active and you are increasing your blood flow, which can also help you lose weight if you keep it up.

Yes, according to a new study for the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden.
Vigorous exercise done two to three times per week, for thirty minutes at a time, can help you cut your Alzheimer's risk by 52%.
But you need to work up a sweat.
How does exercise help you protect your brain?
Exercise provides good blood flow to your brain. It can also help with the development of new brain cells.
And interesting side note- exercising has also aided us in avoiding such heart ailments as strokes and heart attacks as well as diabetes.

Stay Physically active-
Build exercise into your daily routine
Climb stairs, do housework and find a sport you like and really enjoy doing.
Many people like to walk, cycle and horseback riding. Some older people are even doing rock climbing.

Balance exercises and resistence training can help older people avoid falls. Falls are the number one cause of fractures which can rob them of their independence.

Exercising also helps build muscular strength and bone strength.

"Get advice from your doctor," says Professor Philip, "if you have limitations of what you can do."

This exercise is for the muscles in the front of the arm.
Just about anyone can do this.
All that you need is a pair of dumbells or two empty milk jugs filled with water, adjusted for your resistence.

How To:

Raise your dumbells or milk jugs and count to three.
Lower your dumbells or milk jugs and count to three.

Keep repeating for two or three times.
