Walking Product Reviews

Reviews of pedometers, heart rate monitors, books, dvds and other walking stuff!
Omron Digital Pedometer
The Omron HJ-112 Digital Pedometer is great for walkers. It is very easy to program, comes with a great belt clip and automatically resets itself every night. Plus, it keeps data for 7 days, so you can compare your progress over the course of a week, and if you keep a log, you have some extra time to get it all logged.
Wicking Socks
Why you need good socks to avoid painful blisters. And, how to find them.
Running Skirts for Walking
If you are looking for something more modest than shorts, and that won't bunch up in the crotch, try a running skirt. They're perfect for walkers, too!
Heart Rate Monitor for Walkers
Would a heart rate monitor help you in your walking? If you have any heart problems, I hope you already use one. But, even if you are heart-healthy, you can benefit from a heart rate monitor.
Walking with Audiobooks
My newest passion is walking and listening to books on my iPod. I love to read but it is hard to find time to read as much as I would like. So when I discovered I could listen to books when I walk, I was ecstatic!
You on a Diet
You on a Diet - The Owner's Manual for Waist Management by Mehmet C. Oz and Michael F. Roizen is one of the "You" manuals that aim to educate people on the inner workings of the human body. I have a little crush on Dr. Oz, so that may be a small factor in why I like this book. What can I say? He's cute and smart! You might have seen him on one of his many Oprah appearances, or on various shows on the Discovery channel.
Champion JogBra Review
Walkers need sports bras, too. When you walk fast, you will find your breasts do bounce quite a bit and whatever you can do to minimize the bounce will help prevent and/or delay sagging. A good sports bra will certainly help and I never walk without one.

This version by Champion is a great sports bra and will hold you in place even if you decide to run, jog, dance or join a pickup basketball game while you are out walking. This is one of the most sturdy sports bras I own, and in fact, I rarely wear it because the band is too tight for me, and I am the upper range of sizes offered. So, I highly recommend you order one band size up from what you regularly wear. Click link to read the rest of my review.

Using Gmaps Pedometer

Visualize your Fitness
Many top athletes and sports superstars use visualization techniques to mentally "practice" their skills and hone their athletic ability. They mentally "see" themselves jumping higher, making a basket, hitting a golf ball, crossing a finish line. It is a huge part of sports psychology, coaching and training. You can use those same techniques to visualize your fitness and reach your goals.

I will have to read more of those articles. I walk regularly, I think more people should try and make it part of their day- it will seem like a drag to start with, but once it is part of the daily routine they will just feel the benefits - getting out, seeing more of the outdoors, being away from aircon for some time every day. Good lens.
