Surprise your sweetie with this amazing chocolate treat.

I didn't get breakfast in bed last Mother's Day. Instead, my husband and kids surprised me with this super-indulgent brownie. (Yes, I did get it first thing in the morning. My guys know me well!) You actually mix it up in the mug, cook it in the microwave, and serve it right in the mug. The whole process takes about 5 minutes, maybe less. Try it--you won't believe how much MMMM you get for so little effort and expense.

Here's the recipe, adapted from instructables.com via the Chicago Tribune.

Ingredients

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
dash of salt
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons water
1/3 teaspoon vanilla
small handful of chocolate chips (optional)

That's it!

Instructions

Whisk together dry ingredients in a coffee mug, standard size (11 oz.) or larger. Add oil, water, and vanilla and mix thoroughly--making sure to scrape the bottom and sides so that it's all incorporated. If you'd like, mix in chocolate chips.

Microwave on high for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. The finished product will be soft-ish and chewy.

Cool for a minute. Eat right out of the mug :)

Kick it up

I like this concoction with ice cream on top. A small scoop of vanilla, or today I tried it with a little brown-sugar ice cream from the new Haagen Dazs "Five" line (just five ingredients--love that concept). Sugar overload, but who's complaining?

What would you put on your brownie in a mug? Or would you eat it plain? How did the recipe work for you? Does this lens make up for the one I did about a chocolate-free candy bar?

Yeah they are really delicious i whip it up in about 10-15 minutes when i am feeling liek brownie. u can add 3 tbsp of milk stead of 2 water and add 1/4 tsp baking powder and an egg if you want an airy cake instead of a brownie!!!

Yum, sounds delicious - and perfect for when I crave brownies but don't want to make a whole batch! Definitely feeling adding the ice cream and caramel on top.
