Proper Care of Your Hardwood Floor

But Despite That, Anything Can Happen

from clipart.comIn an ideal world, your hardwood floor wouldn't get scratched or injured. However, I know that your best efforts may not be good enough because really, anything can happen. I remember once the post man dropped a package down at the doorway and it took a chunk out of the floor. Or how about the time I didn't know the remote was on my lap, it fell, and the floor got nicked?

Aside from those random mishaps, you can prevent a lot of wear and tear by simply taking care of your floor properly. General advice would be to sweep or vacuum using tools that won't scratch. Wash your floor using the right products, and finish and protect your floor using the right products. Everyone has different finish and different kinds of wood so the best thing is to contact your manufacturer and see what they recommend.

My Hardwood Flooring Scratches Mishaps...

I'm speaking from experience here because even though it scratches easily, I prefer hardwood flooring over any other type of floor. And no matter how hard I try - I always either find scratches and nicks that others have created or do something stupid that results in a scratch. For example, I once dragged a box across the floor that had the pointy end of an ice axe sticking out. The thing scraped the floor up in a nice long line (of which I fixed...)

That is the situation that led me to the Tibetan Almond Stick - the product that gave me a lot of peace of mind. It works so well the scratches just disappear. After I used the product and gave it a little bit to set, I couldn't even figure out where the scratch was.
