The Problem: TRUST

Often marital problems arise because trust has been lost. Perhaps your spouse has done something drastic such as indulged in an addiction or acted unfaithfully, but trust can also be lost if small promises are not lived up to.

In a marriage it is important that you can depend on your spouse consistently and that your spouse can do the same. So if you are trying to fix marriage troubles try considering the following concepts.

Fix Marriage by Keeping Small Promises

So often it really is the little things that count in life. If you tell your mate that you will be somewhere at a certain time, or that you will pick up dinner, or that you will attend your child's recital - make sure you follow up on that promise. Keeping these small promises will make you a more dependable partner.

Building trust is a slow process, but being able to rely on your partner and having him or her be able to rely on you is key to a good marriage.

How Bad Are White Lies, Really?

If you need to fix marriage problems of any kind you will need to build a firm foundation of trust first.

Lying about anything can make your spouse wonder what else you are lying about. If you plan to go bowling with your friends don't tell your other half that you are staying at work late. If you spent a small fortune on a new pair of shoes don't tell your mate they were bought at a discount store.

These small deceptions can add up and leave your partner wondering how truthful you are about other more important issues.

Are You Being Fair to Your Spouse?

Jealousy can hurt the trust built in a relationship even if nobody has done anything wrong. If you are constantly asking where your spouse has been and who you spouse was with, it will strain the relationship. Your spouse could feel hurt or angry by your lack of trust; or worse - your partner might wonder if you have something to hide yourself and are simply trying to cover it up.

Make sure your partner knows he or she is the most important one in your life. Introducing your spouse to your friends and letting your spouse see how platonic your relationships are with other people can also help to fix marriage problems.

Be A Good Listener and Fix Marriage Faster

In a marriage it is very important to create good channels of communication so that your partner can turn to you with any problem. A good marriage cannot happen without good communication skills and good communication cannot happen without trust. Try to be an active listener so you fully understand how your partner feels.

If you are having a disagreement with your partner try seeing things from his or her point of view. A good way to show you are listening and care about what your partner is saying is to repeat phrases back. Try saying "So to make sure I understand you, you feel that%u2026" or "It seems like you feel%u2026"

If your partner knows that you are open to learning his or her point of view and that you are willing to discuss problems in a calm fashion - you will be able to fix marriage troubles with a lot more ease.

Now It's Your Turn: Fix Marriage with Your Loved One

If you and your spouse love each other, and are open and honest with each other, then you have a firm foundation on which to build your marriage. To fix marriage difficulties you should ensure that both you and your spouse know what the difficulties are. This requires good communication skills and a trusting relationship is the backbone of it all.
